Since we're still in a waiting mode, and with all the talk of competition upcoming in January, I started thinking about what would make ST the clear winner for me. Here's my list. What would be on your list?

1) Shorter time between shot and display, if that's even possible... and I'd even be okay if part/all of the solution is needing a badass PC, especially since I just built one
2) TGC ASAP (WTF, LOL!!)
3) Remove the yearly $99 "access fee" if I buy the TGC software outright.

The thread on the competition is not looking super promising to me ($4,000 price point, accepting "pre-orders" at the end of January, it might not work at all with putting, etc.) This got me thinking about what I didn't like about the ST. Ignoring the delays and the rest of the drama, my list is only 3 deep, and it really seems like simple fixes to me. Well, okay, maybe not #1.

I think you just described GC2 and ES16. Ah, yes, one of those is currently available.

yeah, at more than twice what I paid for my ST, and it would be used.

Ok, but what do you really have with skytrak right now? WGT.........that's fun for 10 mins. The range kicks a$$, that's worth $2K for sure. For an extra $1500 the shot delay is 1 sec (better than 5 sec on .........calculating shot.........). I'm not going to rant any further. It's too bad that a great product with a ton of potential has gotten to this point.

I actually feel bad for Seth and Sporttrak. What a mess this has gotten to be. Look at skygolf's track record. The skycaddie touch was delayed by more than 6 months with multiple promises. This is looking very familiar, same story line, different pieces.

Hindsight is 20/20, I should of dumped skytrak this summer and bought used GC2 for $2800. Oh well, all good life lessons can potentially cost $$$.

Well, there's e6 demo- I've got that. Correction, I will have that again for 30 days as soon as I get my new pc fully loaded with software.

Also, I'm on a budget, homey. If it comes to it, I could probably swing a gc2 for $2,500, but I don't think the price will dip that low anytime soon. Unless ST and ES16 get it done, then I'm guessing the used value of the gc2 could drop. But at that point, I won't need a gc2 because ST got it done.

I still believe in Skytraks potential and hope they will harvest it at one point. The shot delay, if it is 3s or less with TGC , doesn't bother me. it helps more then it hurts because I'm not tempted to lift my head early hahaha. Agree 100 % on you 2nd point. As for 3 I'm sure, especially if you buy it outright, they will not lift that fee. If you do a yearly TGC prescription they might have a deal where they get some of it. What I would like is an option. I like to pay once and be done. Like TGC 900 or 1000 once and be done, GIP let's say 300 or so once and be done.....

I think TorchRedBob and Sascha1818 have pretty much got it spot on really. I think its a good product and there are a few minor issues that will get resolved. Data sync really being the biggest one. For the price point when the data sync is robust, when the sim options are available and if a buy-it-once GIP (maybe package with the Sim) comes to fruition then everyone is a winner, both users and Skygolf?

Get rid of the $99 fee for seeing your shot info, seriously WTF. You pay 2k for a launch monitor and you don't see your results for your session, only one shot at a time.

The unit is $2k, more features should be moved over to the basic package;
Colored shot tracers
Session history
Club Compare
Multiple camera angles
Environmental controls

The $99 should be a competition package, target practice, long drive comps, closest to pin, WGT challenge and the one course.

I agree with TorchRedRob the pricing on the es16 is looking like it puts it out of range. Double the cost of skytrak with no idea yet on what problems it will have. Same boat as buying a used gc2, cost, condition, fully functioning, etc.

Yeah totally agree here. You shouldn't have to pay an extra yearly fee for basic range usage (session stats, multiple angles, etc) as mentioned above. Seems pretty lame. Especially considering it's not that great in the first place.

I for my part will hang in there for now and see what Seth and his crew will come up with in the next few weeks. He is back and we get information again so let's wait and see.

The reason people are still bitching about Skytrak and not switching to GC2 is the price.
Its the same reason TGC can charge $1000 for software that is normally $40 on a PS4.
There isn't another option with the same opportunity at the same cost.
A used GC2 sounds great, until you have problems with it - then you can have $3000 invested into something that doesn't work and you may need to put more in.

Go to Par 2 Pro and check out prices for the pieces to fix the GC2. It's not that expensive for batteries or flash.

The only feature I really want to see is the ability to click and drag your on screen center line to match your stance. Then, if you're offset by 18" or 4', it doesn't make any difference!

When I was first scoping out the ST, I thought the delay was kind of annoying. But after using my ST for a bit, I think the delay is good. I'm not banging ball after ball and it forces me to concentrate on my next shot a little more.

What I would like to see is a movable green at a set target distance in the practice range. At GolfTec, I think they use a GC2 and I can set a target distance and there's a green at that distance. That way I can work on specific clubs and trying to hit greens while I'm practicing. I know they have the closest to the pin and the target practice section but it's limited to 6 shots at a time and the ball flight camera and angles are completely different than the range (and they suck). It's difficult to see my shot shape in those challenge games.

The delay did not bother me either. That is until I got used to the GC2. Tested the ST last weekend and now the delay is annoying.
If you get PG, that range has multiple greens at various distances that you can point to and use as target.
It lacks multi shot traces and data gathering, but that might come in a future update.

Yep- I hit some shots on a GC2 last week, and it reminded me how nice it was to see the ball launch almost instantly (and also see the trail start from the location where it impacted the screen)

A range like E6 would be nice. You get a side view and you can set a target at any distance with any size ring you want without any shot limit. Maybe they can change the setting so you can pick how many shots you want to hit in the current target practice.

This might be best in another stream....I have the E6 demo working with my Skytrak with the USB directly connected to the PC. Does anyone know if I should be able to make this work via wifi without the connection? Similar to basic ST functionality?

That's how I run it. I play the e6 demo using WiFi not USB connection. Works well.

I would LOVE to have some sort of a combine or skills test feature which should be simple enough....


1. Have a skills test where you have to hit a 100, 125, 150, 175 and 200 yard shot. Even better would be a randomly generated yardage in those yardage ranges, but I'm not greedy.

2. Each shot is measured by distance to the target if the yardages are static or by margin of error if the yardages are randomly generated.

3. Then add in a simple cumulative grading system for all shots....

STATIC YARDAGES
<75 total yards = A
76-97 = B
98-120 = C
121-150 = D
151+ = F


RANDOM YARDAGES
<10% margin of error = A
11-13% = B
14-16% = C
17-19% = D
20+% = F

4. After each skills test, display that information in a nice table format such as...

100 yard shot / 7 yards offline / A
125 yard shot / 17 yards offline / B
150 shot...
175 shot
200 shot...
OVERALL - 107 yards offline - C




This sort of test would be wildly popular and would give users a REAL indicator of whether they are improving and their strengths and weaknesses rather than the current challenges which are more or less games. If you start out in the D range and after several months of hard work, you reduce that to a B, you know you've made some great strides.
