I have seen that Skytrak specs show a battery life of up to 5 hours. I am currently getting three hours of E6 demo before the until stops reading shots and then when looking at the skytrak app it shows a critical battery low message. Is anyone else having short battery life issues? Do I have a bad unit? I am using the unit if wifi mode. I was told but the online chat rep to do a hard reset and I have not played again since trying that.

IC. I have never hit balls for 4+ hrs straight with mine. I did a few times over the holidays turn it on mid day and leave it and my ipad on until 8-9PM. I was hitting 10-15 balls multiple times throughout the day as I was working around the house. I did notice late at night that it would start to miss balls, so I'm thinking that the battery must have been getting low.

I had asked Seth if the displayed battery % bug was fixed in iOS 2.1.1 I mentioned that the battery still does not show a fully charged battery. His response was that the software side was addressed but still working on the hardware side.
I'm still waiting to get clarification on what he meant by hardware side of the issue.

I decided to just leave my ST plugged in (to a wall outlet - not a computer) tonight while I used it for about 2 hours. I don't know if it was actually charging during use, but the battery indicator looked pretty much the same after 2 hours as it did at the start of play. As others have said, the indicator bar never looks completely full even after a full charge.

I have a faulty battery and/or charging curcuit in mine. Stops charging prematurely. Low battery warning in application aften 15min. Last 90min. Bought june 2015, no warranty and outside US..... A little hope for some firmware to fix the charging or perhaps open the unit and try to do a DIY fix when it's unusable .... Does anyone know what type of battery used inside ? Next will be something else - will hopefully last until summer.....

Well i didn't have warranty anyway - I'm in Norway.. I assume these units will be dead when the batterys gone.
Perhaps Skytrak will make a Mark ii with integrated power supply and a logic board to do the processing to get rid of the delay - after they start loosing customers. I think the Skytrak draws power directly from battery with no power curcuitery to enable the unit to run from the usb interface when plugged in and running. Thats a design fault ! Used Cg2 or ES16 next !

Seems my DIY repair did work. An overcurrent (my 2.1A charger for phones/ipad) did trip an overcurrent protection mechanism with regards to the Lipo battery. (3 leads on the battery so a thyristor perhaps) When I took out the battery and inserted it was reset and now the battery indicator shows 70-80% instead of 20%. So a 0.5A charging seems to be the correct method ! And perhaps also not total discharge either - these batteries are sensitive to that too. And no charging in my sub-zero garage/golf sim. Tried to cycle it a few times (15 min on and charge afterwards), and it now charges to a higher level than before before it turns off the charging (yellow led off).

Is anything changing in V2.2 in regards to battery? I've had my Skytrak for a little over a year. I keep it in my hitting bay which is always at about 60 degrees in the winter and 75 in the summer. When I first got my Skytrak I'd say that I got about 3.5 hours of continuous battery life. Now I get under 2 hours. On the iOS app screen my battery life never goes about about half on the indicator. Is the charge being restricted by the software, or do you suspect I have a battery problem, or is the software just not reading/reporting properly?
The process I use is to charge the unit fully and then let it drain down util I get a battery warning at which point I always stop hitting and plug in to re-charge fully. Is it better for the battery life to leave this plugged in at all times while hitting? Hopefully somebody on the forum has some advice - otherwise hopefully Seth can shed some light on what charging practices are best. And last question- can the battery be replaced?

Guys, just to give you heads up, there will be a firmware change in v2.3 that will address the battery issues you are seeing. It's not a hardware problem thankfully, just a simple firmware fix that will come with the next update. This will affect both the life and the indicator.
Best charging practice is just what you said. Once you get the warning, make sure you give a full charge (we say 6 hours, but it's easiest to just leave it in overnight)

SkyTrak_Seth - is it ok for the unit to be plugged in via USB to the computer all the time? I never remove it, and it is always fully charged. Will that effect the battery life in any way?Originally posted by SkyTrak View PostGuys, just to give you heads up, there will be a firmware change in v2.3 that will address the battery issues you are seeing.
