Skytrak owner for 2 months - A couple of questions

Wgt hard left - very common. It's not really a sim. Don't bother. e6 demo is ok. By next week we should have TGC or pg. Actually I have no idea if that's true. Just hoping.

Ok glad it isn't just me (actually not, wish it worked right for everyone). Agree I am really looking forward to TGC. Hope I get my unit back quickly as it is helping my overall game (HCP down 1.3 since I got it)

I am a new user too - got mine on December 22. Same problem as you, only with all clubs. Can't get driver past 215 when hit 250-270 outdoors. Also averaged 258 over 30 drives on GC2 this past weekend to try and make sure problem was not me. Have tried everything (placement, height, tilt, software, multiple computers iPad and PCs, friends testing as well) to fix with no luck.

I have phoned tech support a few times and have sent in logs of my sessions with different clubs. Every time I seem to get a different message.

First I was told that their software guy Howard would contact me, but did not hear back. Now today in talking with sky golf they want me to send unit in as well but the fellow who left message alerting me also stated that they have tested other units of users with same problem and the units were fine. So I am not confident about what will be done if their mind is made up that the unit is fine.

I really want this unit to work but a refund and used GC2 may have to be in my future. Tired of having to hit driver then three wood to hit a green on a 410 yard hole when outdoors it is driver 9 iron.

I did the same thing. Gc2 290 avg ST 258 avg. Long drive gc2 317 ST 275. Gc2 was 5 mph faster ball speed and measured less spin. My skytrak is very consistent on all shots just short on the woods. I don't think there is anything wrong with it unless other people are getting different results. Hopefully they can fix their algorithm. There algorithm is way closer than wgt's for what that's worth. Have you heard anyone carrying the ball over 270 and chasing over 300?

Ball speed is an actual measurement on skytrak. No matter what they do to the algorithm it will not measure the ball speed any differently. When all measured data entered into either flightscope trajectory optimizer or flightscope optimal flight they are all consistently the same yardages. If your getting 5 mph lower ball speed on skytrak it is either a faulty unit or your not making the same contact while using it as with gc2. 5 mph of ball speed should be around 12-15 yards of carry distance.

That is good to know, and helps convince me that my unit is indeed faulty. My average ball speed was 137 on the GC2, and around 128 on the skytrak.

So the 10 mph difference does indeed equate with the 24-30 yard difference I experience between the two units (actually 220 vs 258)

Coz and scyukon - how are you comparing gc2 against skytrak? One shot on ST followed by one shot on gc2 or one shot simultaneously measured on ST and gc2?

I ask because, while my ST is measuring my distances accurately, I'd still like to be sure. Im going to golf town to run the same test - ST vs gc2 and I'm interested in how you did your test. The par2pro approach is the only way I can think of to test the two simultaneously.

Mario, I just hit shots and then compare. I know what they should be. So here is basically the conclusion for me. Driver should avg 293 total from outdoor golf hybrid 240. GC2 AVG 290.
I took my Skytrak to the dome and tested it this morning 290 AVG with one shot over 300 and hybrid 240. With my basement ceiling height questionable I don't swing my long stuff the same therefore the yardage complaints are of my own doing. My irons were spot on because I didn't worry about the ceiling height. The unit is awesome, I'm not so awesome.

For me I was hitting on the GC2 at a local golftown, and at home, over and over and over in my 8.ft 8 inch ceiling basement, on the skytrak.

So I have an update. I called Skygolf today and asked for the status on my unit. They said they fully tested it and nothing is wrong. I am not happy about this. If nothing was wrong, why would I send it in to them in the first place. I am getting pretty frustrated at this point. When it gets back I will try it using my PC, just to see if that is any better.

I'm not saying you have a good or a bad unit, but I believe there have only been about 2-3 units on this forum that were actually faulty. Everyone else that thought they had a faulty unit eventually found out it was something else that was not the unit's fault.

Honestly, I hope you are right.

When you get it back, you should really take the unit outdoors to a range, align it to a target with an known distance and test it out there. Use a laser range finder to get the targets distance. Then hit some shots and see if the unit is reading correctly. Should be apparent very quickly. A few others have done this recently who believed their units were also faulty, but ended up finding out there was something else going on and the unit was actually reading correctly.
