SkyTrack - Does club selection in software matter?

So far so good with my SkyTrak - really enjoying my practice sessions. Does the soft-selection of club make a difference to the algorithms used to calculate anything? I read something about club speed, but couldn't find definitive word. Cheers.

Also, brought mine to my last GolfTec lesson (mine has GC2). My instructor said the some GT centers were buying SkyTracks instead of GC2's for the bays that currently have no LMs.

No and pay no attention to club speed either since it's not measured. Don't recall seeing the variable for club speed calc so who knows what they are using for a smash factor number to get it anyway.

I think launch angle has more to do with there club head speed estimates.

It would be nice to hear if they use a sliding factor based on LA or just a fixed factor for all shots. Or even better, get rid of it since it's calculated and show something like angle of descent or peak height, something that is more meaningful.

The answer is No.
Skytrak measures 'ball speed', 'launch angle (vertical and horizontal)' and spin rates (aka spin axis).
Skytrak estimates 'carry distance', 'total distance', 'off-line distance' and 'club-speed'.
It is safe and smart to pay more attention to measured data.

Gc2 also estimates the same things unless it has the hmt attachment.

I always assumed it exists to allow users to track data by club. At least that's what I use it for.

Club selection makes no difference in shot results. It will be used to keep stats however. It's in beta now but will be developed more after 3.0 I. In that case it's a good idea to pay attention to the club used so you can get accurate stats on each individual club, if you want.

None of the above are used in TGC.

Yeah, as others have stated, we don't actually measure club speed. Club selection in the app has nothing to do with any readings, but we do allow customers to choose the club they are hitting for stat tracking over time. That said, in v2.1.1, we did drastically improve the accuracy of club head speed measurements across all clubs. If it's a center-struck shot, we're pretty darn close.
