Everyone works on their game differently. For some people it's about playing and that's how they improve. For others its all about the working on their shots in a range type of setting. I am in the latter camp and that's why I decided to go ahead with Skytrak. I love to play too, but mostly I play only in tournaments (nothing major - just amtour), as I love the competition part of it.

I know exactly what I need to improve the most and that is distance control with my wedges and short irons. It is hard to practice that as most ranges don't have accurate targets and the balls there suck. I want to practice hitting exact distances with my irons, be able to hit different types of shots (1/2, 3/4, knockdowns, etc.), and know the exact yardage I am going to get. I am hoping Skytrak will help me with that.

For chipping and putting, I still feel there is no substitute going out to the practice area and working there. There are are so many factors with the lie and all in chipping, that its hard to replicate that in a home setting. So I plan to still do that at my course.

And as far as driving is concerned, I pretty much know what I get there. I would love to get more distance (don't we all ), and hopefully skytrak can show me stuff to improve that too.

If a simulation software comes along this year for skytrak, I will definitely go for it, but it is not an important factor for me.

I did look very closely at E16 and GC2, but was not able to justify the extra cost for what I need.

My Skytrak comes tomorrow and rest of my sim room stuff in the next few days. One of my goals was to stay under 5K and I think I am going to be close to that. Can't wait...

I agree with you. I feel that I've improved my wedge game immensely. Every time i fire up the ST i hit 58* wedges. In the beginning i would have to drop it on 25, 40,50,60, 70 then 56*80-84, 94-97 before i could go have fun on challenges. That created some pressure. Now i have increased the difficulty by hitting it+/- 1 yd of the number 2x in a row before i get to go play. My outdoor range only had 97 yard pin. I'm not going to be lost on the course inside 70 this year! I think your going to absolutely love that your purchase.

Yup, that's exactly what I am looking to do. I know I can shave at least 5 strokes there.

I'm trying to stay within budget also and for that reason have given up on GC2 altogether. Read some other threads today and just seems like there are still too many inconsistent readings and sync issues with ST. I know that for short game it is a great tool, but I would like to rely on as real numbers as possible, and driver numbers being 20-30 yards short on average can be a pain. Hopefully new update will come soon that addresses these issues. Probably wait till then.

Have you followed any of the recent posts about those who thought they were short but when they tested using other methods they were accurate?

This is not universal it's some users/units coupled with very high ball speeds. If your regular then u should be unaffected.

I thought mine was 20-30 short. I took it where i could swing freely and it was the same as gc2. So if it was off they were both off. I totally trust it now with all clubs. I did have trouble with direct mode at the dome and returning home to network mode. It didn't sync and i lost the dome data and then had difficulty with the app at home and had to reinstall it. Hopefully that doesn't happen again but by the looks of the posts I'm not the only one.

I'm definitely not a high ball speed guy and do rely on my short game , mostly. Im also new to the LM world and just getting into the info on here., which by the way has been great help so far in helping decide on a system.
