Skytrak and Xbox and EA Sports PGA Tour

Is there any possibility Skytrak could or would integrate with EA Sports' PGA Tour Golf on Xbox or Playstation? This would be fantastic for those of us looking for home simulation but who don't want to drop an additional $2k on TGC and a hot PC. I'm sure this is more work than I would think but a lot of the foundation should be there - the courses, the graphics engine, the ball physics. How difficult would it be to pass launch data over a network to a game console? Those guys have online gaming down. Sure, PGA Tour has a different focus, but I'm sure Skytrak would fly off the shelves if all you needed for hardware and software was a $350 console and a $50 game. And what a great showcase for Microsoft or Sony.

It is not really up to Microsoft. It would be on TGC. Assuming the USB interface on the Xbox supports standard communication it could have little impact on the Skytrak device itself. TGC would have to port their software from the PC side that interfaces with the Skytrak and release it as an update to the game. The only tricky part would be the Skytrak license files required. I am not sure if Microsofts T&C's with video game vendors would allow a game mode to only be enabled by a third party license agreement.

Why is this on TGC? They have no incentive if they can get people to pay $1k. I'm suggesting that EA Sports, already tight with Microsoft and Sony, work with them and Skygolf to integrate the Skytrak unit.

I agree 100%. Skytrak has been a disruptor in the launch monitor market. It would only make sense to be the company to change the sim market. Integration with the consoles would be amazing.

Got an Xbox One and the TGC game. Would be willing to pay for an expansion pack or a follow on game to play my Skytrak on it. The Xbox even has USB ports for easy connectivity if you didn't use wifi. Definitely way more accessible than $2k. Down in warmer weather climates it is hard to justify that much on a gaming PC that would otherwise never be used and a $999 video game.

It's not gonna happen. Guaranteed. I asked that same question on the EA/Rory forum a year ago. It got less than ZERO interest. It seems there are far more people interested in playing it with Kinect than with Skytrak.

Sony is the world leader in image sensor technology and the image sensor division people know a thing or 2 about image/vision processing as well.
They could if they wanted to design a device that is better than ST, sell it for 500$ and still make a decent profit. But I suspect the market is to small for them.
I guess the strategy is that they do it them self's if it's worth it, or not at all if it's not.

As for MSFT, who knows. They could do it them self's as well, it's no rocket science. All it takes is a golf interested executive and the project could get launched. Regardless of what the marketing research result show:-)
