  • Comparing Simulator Software for SkyTrak

An important decision for new SkyTrak users is choosing among several software options for golf course simulation. Currently, The Golf Club (TGC) and World Golf Tour (WGT) are available through the SkyTrak website, and Perfect Golf (PG) and E6 from TruGolf are expected very soon. Individual SkyTrak threads exist for these sim options, but opinions about which sim is the best often cause these threads to drift off topic. It is hoped that this thread will provide GSF members with an opportunity to express their opinions about the advantages and disadvantages of each sim option for use with SkyTrak.

As the GSF Forum Rules make clear, "We appreciate passion, as well as different viewpoints, and we hope to see both in our forums. But each of these ideals can be served without hostility. So, like the sport of golf, we will expect courtesy and respect." The intent of this discussion of sim software comparisons is to promote the expression of passion and diverse opinions, but to do so with goodwill and fairness.

Crazy question, why would you spend 1k on something you appear to know nothing about? Most of these items have been asked and answered. Just googling "TGC software" takes you to lots of places to gather this information.

No support, well that's just not even close to being correct. They respond all the time to inquiries and there are so many posts backing this up, stating how quickly they respond and how they addressed the issues.

You knew there was no trial and there was supposedly no list of features and yet you still bought it?????????

    Buyers remorse

Haha wow, he's way off there, protee is up there with amazon in their great customer service in my mind. Never have I had to wait until even the next day to get a response from them if I ad an issue.

Im with wbond here, I played the console golf game and read and watching hours upon hours worth of stuff about TGC before I bought it, gotta do the DD.

And there are a bunch of help videos available on features of the game as well.

TGC is definitely one of the best/most fun purchases ive ever had in my life. Only recently in the last month or so did I slow down from playing like 2 rounds every single night for like 6 months straight. Had to take a break for the back to recover. Now that my back is finally feeling better again I just gotta get my game back in shape as well (amazing how quick it leaves you haha), but I digress......TGC's great

I made it through about half of what he said and skipped forward to wbond and irons response as he was needing some cheese with that whine, I felt the tears though, no loss if he moves on.

Based on other posts about TGC2.... and the hope that many of the enhancements for the PC game will work their way through to TGC simulation model...,, would be interesting to see how many of the above concerns are planned to be addressed... as I think it is most of them.

Perhaps my expectations were too high but for a game with a $1,000 price-tag, it better be good.

Here is what I don't like:
                .....snip.....

If $1,000 means anything to you, do not buy this game.
TGC is the best simulator option available. It does have kind of a clunky UI and your other points are all valid. But even with those flaws, it provides the best sim golf you can get.

I hope multiple pin placements come someday, and the UI is redesigned to be up to modern standards of usability and ease of use.

But Protee does provide excellent support, and once you learn the quirks of TGC I think you will like it more than the other sim packages avaiable (perfect golf, e6, wgt).

I tried the trial software out of e6 when I renewed my Skytrak subscription. It was painful. I have tgc, and it isn't even close. I think jnpg and tgc are the only serious contenders.

                • #39
I don't think the trial is available. I have e6 and do enjoy it very much. Limited courses, but how many do you need? Eighteen. And now their course packs are also available...see SkyGolf. Buy a additional pack once...but you do have to maintain the software subscription. I have e6, Perfect Golf and TGC...intended to work all and provide reviews, but only now is it getting too cold to play real golf.

There are a lot of pros and cons when it comes to selecting the software that is right for you. WGT is solid but has only 1 player game modes and just has 10 courses. E6 is all around very polished but is lagging in the graphics department. TGC has an infinite number of courses but this comes with many duplicate and inaccurate, user-designed courses. There is a lot to take in for this process!

Renewed e6 for my SkyTrak...plenty golf there and the graphics are great at 1080p. Looking at buying a course pack. I let the other two subscriptions lapse...PG and TGC.

Bumping this thread. Is there a similar thread that is more recent?

My husband and I just set up our ST and TGC. I confess we bought this setup without doing deep research on the software features; we were so focused on the physical screen setup. I had assumed it would have features like multiple user profiles, club stats, and ladie’s tees. For a total beginner like me in a household with 2+ players, I’m a bit heartbroken that it’s almost unplayable for me. :-/ (My own fault. I should have researched my assumptions.)

We are starting the search for software that’ll work for our setup and players. This thread is a treasure trove of info. But I imagine/hope that a lot has changed since 2016! Any guidance would be much appreciated.

tgc2 will have tee box options but it is several months out. check out jnpg. I believe it has the features you are looking for and it is a rental model so it wouldn't be too expensive while you wait for tgc2.

Thanks for the comment, sounds like that’s what we need to do for at least this winter.

Get yourself JNPG for the year and revisit the topic next year when it runs out. TGC is at least a few months out if not longer. JNPG offers you everything you need. I play with my wife all the time. You have no idea what a life saver the ladies tees and scramble modes are for us. We tried TGC for the longest time and shed have to hit 3-4 times before I'd get to hit again and it was brutal! I still play and enjoy TGC for the solo tournaments I play but JNPG is just superior for family play if wives and kids are involved and I don't think anyone can argue that point.

Not sure what you mean by track clubs but you can see your shot data after tournaments and also, you can go to the range and save a session and look at data after. It's great for club gapping or just practice and looking at data afterward. You can save tons of user profiles and play up to 8 players at once. They have 2 or 4 person scrambles, alt shots, hazard, greensome, stroke, match play, skins, and loads of other modes.
                          Hope that helps

I have just purchased SkyTrak and HomeCourse screen. Products are on the way to me.
Now I have to select software for simulator and I am lost.
I need help at selecting software for my home use with PC and projector system.
I intend to purchase permanent license on PC.
1st option is WGT , bit is it for iOS so I an not use it.
2nd option is Jack Nicklaus Perfect Golf (PG or JNPG)– it has different options for yearly subscription (no option for one time purchase)
3rd option is E6 golf by TrueGolf – it has a demo version and one time fee for 1800 USD
4th option is The GolfClub (TGC) – one time fee – now 795USD
5th option is Creative Golf 3D – one time fee – 500 USD
6th option is Fitness Golf – one time fee 400 USD
I need advice at selecting software . TGC has good opinion and new version with tee off shall come within next months.
I could not find comparison of TGC with Creative Golf 3D – please help me.
I am interested about your opinion about short game while some users indicated problems with previous firmware versions of SkyTrak.

I can compare JNPG and CG3D. After one year's I switched from JNPG to CG3D for the following reasons:
                          1. One time fee option
                          2. Bigger opportunities for short and long game training (chip and putt area, putting green, practise on course - diffent hole, several driving range areas) and family fun (minigolf, demolition golf, kids golf etc.)
                          3. Greater reliability of SkyTrak connection to the game (no need for PGsimconsole).

In addition, I have discovered functionality that JPNG does not have in my mind. This is a "free walking" option that means I can easily check the surroundings of the ball position (including the head over).
You have the chance to find out if you are not mind the branches above you or how high a shot you have to play through.
With CG3D, you can also try the demo (although limited to one hole per course or 3 strokes in other activities).
