So I haven't been able to get my Skytrak working in my basement. I was sure it was defective, but when I took it to the range, sure enough, everything worked fine. I have had a couple of theories about why the basement isn't working, but none of them have panned out so far.
One theory was that the lighting in my basement is somehow effecting things. But, I have tried in normal light, just CFL, just Halogen, and almost total darkness. Nothing seems to make a difference.
Another theory was my mat. I have a mat that I hit off of with some anti-skid stuff underneath it. I thought maybe the slight twisting of mat when I swing was the cause of the problem. But, then I hit straight of my padded carpet, and that doesn't seem to change things either.
I am by no means a great golfer, but I know when I hit a decent shot. In my basement, my farthest carry with a 6 iron (19 shots) was 111 yards, with an average of 95 yards. At the range, my shortest carry was 117 yards with a six iron, with an average of 139. Looking that the numbers, the launch angle is reading at 2.55 degrees higher in my basement, the ball-speed is averaging 20 mph slower, and the backspin was 1000 rmp's higher in the basement.
I understand that sometimes it takes some getting used to swinging inside and that could be the cause. I have been using my basement, with an almost 10 ft ceiling, for 3 years to swing in. I am pretty comfortable there, and I would like to think it isn't me changing my swing from the range to inside. But who knows? It could be that I am. I might be trying too hard in the basement, which could be throwing off the swing. Since I am not a great golfer, I hit plenty of bad shots. But, when I hit one pure (and I did a number of times in the basement), I know my 6 iron should carry a lot more than 111 yards.
The numbers just seem so different that I am hoping that there is some outside factor that I can fix to make things work. I attached the numbers from the range and basement if anyone sees anything there that could be helpful. I'm going to keep working at trying things out, but if anyone had any suggestions, I am all ears.
Thanks for the help!
