  • Skytrak connection problems since lastest update...

Since latest update was installed I am having problems connecting in Direct Mode. I generally get 2 green lights with the top light being red while showing the "checking license files" is displayed. I have reset unit with switch on bottom which does not seem to fix issue. What does work to a degree is to delete App then reinstall. It generally will work for one session then when disconnected it goes back to same state I described above when trying to reconnect Skytrak. . I have always used my Skytrak in Direct Mode with little issues until this latest update. I seldom use Network mode as I have an outside hitting area. I do not have proper Wifi coverage yet in my hitting area...weak signal on outer edge of range. In process of upgrading range as I bought the WGT option sometime ago and have not really used it that much. When I did try to connect thou it was hit or miss in Network mode. Most likely due to WiFi strength issues. Like I stated above have always had good success connecting in Direct Mode with little issues. Now with new update I'm having problems. It worked the other day then next day it connected for a few shots then top light went Red and was unable to connect back up again.
Anyone else having/had similar issues? If you know of a fix or soloution please let me know. Thanks for reading.

I rarely use direct mode but went to use it the other day & it did not show the Skytrak specific wifi from Ipad. That has never happened in the past. Anyone else have that issue. Or is this a known existing issue? Thanks

I have same problem since upgrading to v2.3 - so to me this seems like a new issue that's come up w v2.3...

For what ever reason it seems to get hung up " checking license files". It says I'm paid up till 2017 on my SkyGolf account page so not sure what it up with that. I sat right next to my router yesterday and tried to connect with same problem ...wanted to eliminate any WiFi strength issues. So I'll get bottom green light with 2 red lights followed by " looking for connection" ...middle light will turn green after a bit then it will just loop with " checking license files " message and top light will stay red. Sometimes there is a quick connection upon initial start up but will quickly drop out. I have never had this issue until latest update so I would say It has to be related. Snow this week in Northest....ugh... So my outside hitting area is shutdown but I want to get this worked out soon. Hopefully someone has some insight.

I ran into a similar issue on the weekend. Everything connected fine on start up, but after hitting a couple of shots, I had the top red light on constantly, and couldn't get the Skytrak to read any more swings. I turned everything off and on, but had the same problem.

As a last resort, I did a hard reset of the Skytrak, deleted and reinstalled the app, and set up everything again from scratch. That solved the problem, and the Skytrak went back to working perfectly.

Ok well I've basically done the same thing several times. Only difference ..and I hope this doesn't happen to you, after one session after doing the hard reset and reinstall of App I shut it down. The next time I try to log on I run into same issue with top red light and " checking license files". I'm going to try to call SkyGolf support as no one seems to have a fix. Hopefully have time later today.

Just got off phone with SkyGolf support. They are aware of issue and are working on a fix. They told me hopefully by Thursday. They were going to contact me and let me know. I'll update when I hear back. We'll see...

So a new release of app on Thur? Can SkyTrak_Seth / Seth confirmed? Thanks.

Started happening to me today as well. Doesn't work on the primary laptop that I use with Skytrak, but it does work with my secondary laptop (which I rarely use).

They are aware of problem and working on a fix....got the impression they were getting numerous phone calls about same issue. Not sure if the fix is a new release of the app or just an internal fix on their end but hopefully we hear something soon. If anyone is having same issue don't hesitate to call. Not sure they check the forum on a regular basis and you know what they say about the " squeaky wheel" ....

Hey guys, sorry just getting back here. JDW, I did respond to your PM but let me just post it here just so everyone can see.

                1) It could be a firmware issue - after you connect and go to Profile > ABOUT, do you see firmware as 1.5?

                2) When your SkyTrak boots up (no software open), do the lights from bottom go GREEN/RED/RED or GREEN/YELLOW/RED? If the first, do you see SkyTrak in your iPad WiFi list? (if the latter, then the unit is in network mode and you will not see it in the wifi list - just mentioning that from a prior post)

                3) It could be an issue with license files - to make sure it syncs and writes them correctly, try this:
                a. Connect iPad to internet
                b. Open app and login
                c. Go to Profile and wait until it says 'Data Synced'
                d. Then connect the unit in direct mode

                4) For all of you guys experiencing this issue with direct mode, had you used network mode previously? If so, how did you get the unit back to direct mode? Connect in network mode in the app then choose direct mode, or did you just reset the unit?

                  2) So you're saying once your unit has been set w network mode credentials (i.e., entered wifi name and password) it will only boot up in network mode?

                  4) Once I'm in network mode, when I try to connect using direct mode (by clicking on "Connect" and then "Direct Mode") I still cannot connect via direct mode (and the SkyTrak wifi signal still does not show up in my iPad wifi list)? Prior to v2.3, I was able to go from network mode to direct mode w/o any problems.

FYI I'm on firmware v1.5 already. Thanks.

                    2) unless you command it to go back to direct mode, if you are within range of your network, the unit will always look for that first.

                    3) When you do that, the unit should reboot and go GREEN/RED/RED. Then it should appear in your WiFi list and allow you to connect to it.

Yeah that doesn't work (i.e., lights don't go GREEN/RED/RED hence no SkyTrak wifi on my wifi list?). I have tried resetting unit but didn't help.

                    Some additional info:
                    - Using PC software
                    - Firmware 1.5 confirmed
                    - Lights from bottom are GREEN/RED/RED
                    - I can connect to SKYTRAK wifi signal, but software won't connect. I can connect directly via USB cable, but I can't project this way. Issue does not exist on my other PC.
                    - I have used it in Network mode previously, but my Wifi signal wasn't consistent so have been using Direct mode
                    - No issues at all until yesterday

If you do a hard reset on the unit, then try to connect again in direct mode, does that work?

I did a hard reset on the unit, and also uninstalled and reinstalled v2.3 twice -- still no luck.

I installed Skytrak on yet another PC and Direct mode works fine. It appears the Skytrack program / installation is corrupted on my problem PC but I have no idea how to resolve it. Hard reset, uninstall/reinstall, forgetting Wifi -- none of these attempts to resolve allow me to use Skytrak on my preferred PC unless I connect directly via USB. Connecting via wireless through either Direct or Network mode is not working.

Go to settings in your pc and make sure it forgets the WiFi access point skytrak presents. Cannot remember where this setting is now but you can Google it easily. Let us know of it works.

Thanks Seth for getting back to me.

Light from bottom are GREEN RED RED
I went ahead and logged on like instructed. I was not doing it in that manner before...I never waited for the SkyGolf App to sync up. It took a few minutes for this to happen. Once I was "Synced Up" I went ahead and connected in ' Direct Mode"...2nd light went to green then a few minutes later the top light went to Green and I was connected. I brought up the driving range and just let it sit for a bit. I would say it was less than 3 minutes...I walked away from unit and when I turned around both top light and middle light were RED. After a while the Skytrak just powered off. I tried to connect back up but ran into same old issues with top light staying RED and it would seem to toggle between middle light turning RED then back GREEN but mostly just stayed with top light RED and " Checking Licence Files". I'm going to try a few more things but this is where I am right now.

Also Firmware is 1.5 and software is 2.3. I never seem to have an issue with the IPad seeing the Skytrak in my WIFi list for what it is worth.

Trying to connect in Network mode and basically having same problem...middle light goes green but just loops with top light RED and "Checking Licence Files" message displayed. Has been 5 minutes trying to connect and at one point middle light went to RED but then turned back GREEN .

Shut everything down and started from beginning. I actually logged out of my SKYGolf account and logged back in. This time it said I was "Synced" right away. Went and tried to connect but has been close to 10 minutes with same issue as before...red light "checking licence files". Not sure what to do next. I've done the hard reset before and reinstalled App a few times now so don't think that is it. .

Ok...so this time I shut my IPad off and powered back up. Went through all previous mentioned steps and was able to connect! After just a few minutes same thing as before. Both middle and top light turn RED. After a bit middle light turns GREEN again and top light stays RED. Currently just sitting with driving range displayed on IPad and Skytrack GREEN GREEN RED.
                  Working...
