  • SkyTrak firmware not updating?

    Hi,
    I just received my SkyTrak and the firmware seems to be not updating. I have not contacted SkyGolf support yet but will if nothing fruitful comes from here first.

    I have not tried the PC method yet, I will probably try that tonight.

    I have registered the device, created a SkyGolf account and I happen to have the 'Game Improvement Package' subscription which I can see is active on my iPad.

    I am using the latest version of the iPad/iPhone app which is version 2.4.1 which from my research the iPad/iPhone app 'should' automatically detect the SkyTrak firmware needs updating and will do it?

    As you can see in the attached screenshot my SkyTrak is still on firmware 1.350 when I believe the most recent version is 1.500. Note I have blacked out my name and serial number.

    I have tried numerous restarts of the app and unit, also try my iPad and iPhone, and also have try 'Direct Mode' and 'Network Mode'.

    Only thing I have NOT try yet is the paper clip in the bottom to reset the unit. I may try that tonight.

    Am I missing something?

    So I have now tried on the PC via USB and via Network mode, still will not update.
    I have also tried paper clip in the bottom reset.

    Any ideas out there?
    Has anyone had version 2.4.1 of the app actually update there firmware?
    Does it just pop up a dialog box when you first startup the app saying it is updating the firmware?

      I dont believe it says anything about updating firmware...I have just noticed the red and yellow lights on the Skytrak start blinking fast when it happens (takes about 5-10 seconds).

      I have had my skytrak since last September, and have gone through 2 or 3 firmware updates, never had an issue with it not updating, so I dont have any help to offer.

      I never use ipad app, its always the PC app version that I use, and always in Network mode (PC is not in the same room as my skytrak so I have to use Wifi to connect them).

        Thanks Shardak for the info, at least I know now what the firmware updating looks like and can keep an eye out for it.

          SOLVED!!!

          I am happy to say I got my SkyTrak firmware to update. I have a feeling the current SkyTrak App version 2.4.1 may have an issue/bug where it will not identify a SkyTrak's firmware needs updating.
          To get mine to update I downloaded the OLDER SkyTrak PC App version 2.3.0 from this link: http://downloads.skygolf.com/Softwar...ytrakSetup.exe
          which came from this thread: http://golfsimulatorforum.com/forum/...ase-ios-and-pc

          I installed this older version of the app because this was the first SkyTrak app to have the most recent firmware version 1.500
          Using the network connection mode I connected my SkyTrak to my PC and opened the SkyTrak app and after logging in with my SkyGolf360 account the app detected a firmware update was required and updated the SkyTrak! YAY!

            Glad to hear it, that's weird. Wonder if the firmware updates are only linked with certain updates I guess

                Thanks, Benj for finding this. I'm looking into it now, but I also confirmed that v2.4.1 is not triggering the firmware upgrade. I don't know how or why it would have been disabled, but I will make sure it's taken care of.
