Well, picked up the PC needed for the TGC software. It is the ASUS ROG G20
I7 processor, 16GB ram, 2TB of disk space, Nvidia GTX 970

Will setup the PC tomorrow and purchase the software. Hopefully, be able to tee off in the next tournament or at least Q school.

Software is downloading now. 45% complete As soon as I placed the order on the SKygolf page I received an email with the activation code - so that was nice. I think I read some had to wait a few hours to a day for theirs.

Does the skytrak device need to be connected via the USB cable for the TCG software to work or can I still go wireless. The directions say to connect the skytrak device to USB to your PC, but I think I read others have better success if they go wireless.

Can do either, but wireless reads all the shots more consistently for whatever reason. Only downside is you have to charge it a lot more after use. I use both ways at times all depending on how much battery power I have left

So far going connected and working so far. Nice to know either works. I played two holes and some quick observations - putting and chipping seem more realistic then in WTF. 3 questions.

How do I go to Q school?
Should I create a handicap before or after Q school
How do I create a handicap
How do I view all the different course - I went to play and tee off expecting it would ask me

Well, I found other courses to play, how to make handicap and also found q school. But not sure how to play against a ghost - thinking it is under rivals and someone has had to play the course before. I am playing Valhalla - a course near me and it says no one has played before.

Not at the Golf server at the moment but it is under tournament I think. Will be teeing off on the computer around noon. Will check then.

Play then tour then q school. Now, I have not gone to Q school yet. I want to play one round, then get handicap 5 rounds and then head to q school.

My thoughts after one playing 9 holes plus one full round.
TGC is better than WGT. I would say TGC is about an 8 while WGT is about a 6. Now, if one has a skytrak and waiting for the 1000 needed for TGC spending the 99 for WGT is worth it. It will get you playing a SIM and swinging indoors. TGC is better at putting and chipping - drives, 3 woods, etc go about the same. Both seem short with 8 iron - at least for me - about 20 yards short

TGC did loose connection to the skytrak device 5 times while playing the full round. the skytrakXX.exe crashed. Not a big deal had to move the TGC window out of the way and restart the skytrak part and choose connect - this worked everytime and take about 45 seconds...not bad - but hopefully has more releases out this will improve.

In all I see me spending a lot of time with the skytrak and TGC. Have 4 more rounds of handicap and then off to Q school and then the tour.

Can you make the window that show your shot stats stay longer - think now it displays for 5 seconds.

How is your internet connection? I was having a bunch of disconnects the other night and I checked my internet speed and it was really slow. Today I hard wired the computer to the network and didn't have a single disconnect.

internet speed is ok. The skytrak TGC interface exe actually crashes - a message displays on screen saying it caused a fault and must close. Could be a fluke. Did have about 7 other windows open. So next time I play will only have the game

Oh and I find the yardages spot on with all my clubs including the short irons.

Yep, I cannot explain this one. On the sky trak range the clubs goes about 125 to 130 my outside range. During the game about 110 - about the same as my 9 iron. My 7 is a little short but 6,4, 3 hybrid, etc all spot on. I just adjust for it.

Cant even compare TGC to WGT. Penrose when playing TGC, pay good attention to the slope of the hole. A lot of uphill shots will not carry as far depending on the slope. This may result in shorter distances when playing. Also pay attention to the wind.

Agreed. I only used WGT when it was open to everyone, but having played both, there is no way WGT is even close to as good as TGC.

penrose..... I have the same computer with a different graphics card. I just downloaded TGC and am waiting for the activation code. Looking forward to it !!
