Ive been searching but cant find the answer, Im having issues with my driver distances not being the same as IRL distances (which i have gone through all the threads about that). I can swing out of my shoes and i cant get the ball speed pass 145. I have no clue what my ball speed is IRL but i can tell you i constantly drive my ball further than the 250 max it will go on skytrak driving range. I was thinking it might be getting use to swinging indoors but im REALLY going after it and i cant get over 145 BS. My LA is 11-12, 90% are center or 1 degree left or right. Cant remember spin but i can check if that will help someone point me in the right direction.

There have been studies on this, and the percentage of amateur golfers who unintentionally perceive inflated driving distances is pretty overwhelming. I'm not saying this is for sure the case for you, but launch monitors typically are quite the reality check. How do you know you hit the ball further than 250? Are you going strictly off scorecard yardages and subtracting the difference? This isn't usually an accurate measurement due to many factors... elevation change, cutting the corner on a dogleg, wind, etc. I don't know what kind of handicap you play to, but the PGA Tour driving average is 289 yards, with average ball speeds being around 165. If you were to walk in to a Golfsmith and hit your driver on their GC2's, I would venture to say that you'll see very similar ball speeds that you're seeing at home. Keep in mind, your distance will be more because Golfsmith uses the boost function in the foresight software in order to sell more drivers. I was just in one 2 days ago with a friend as he tested some drivers. I hit a couple and was getting the same ball speeds as I get on my Skytrak. Keep in mind that the ball has a lot to do with it also. If you're using older balls without much "life" left in them, ball speeds will also be down.

Hmmmm. Not sure there. Side spin is an important factor also, but it would have been accounted for in the Skytrak range also. Is 273 closer to what you feel like your real life distances are? If so, adjust your environment settings in the Skytrak range app and you should be able to match those numbers no problem with the data the Skytrak unit is recording. The temperature and humidity levels are defaulted pretty low from what I remember (relative to typical summer time conditions). Obviously altitude will make a difference also.

I completely agree most amateur golfers are off. and i myself could be off a little but not by much. On that note i do feel the unit is quite accurate in terms of shot shape and such. I know exactly what the ball is going to do before it shows it on the screen just based on how i feel i hit shot. so i am happy with my purchase just want to tweek it so its more IRL. Im fortunate enough to play at least 5 days a week (sometimes more sometimes less) Im pretty geekie about my game so i track my shots via laser and gps so i can play the best possible golf im able to, so with that being said im pretty spot on with my carry distance. I would mind just tweeking the elevate to make it more IRL for me but i dont think that translates over to JNPC with is what i currently play on.

My avg ball speed is around the same as yours , and with similar numbers I get around 240 carry had a few up and over 250 carry when I actually strike it out the sweet spot . Side spin will play a part in your numbers perhaps being off.
Can't agree more with VV about inflated driving distance , I'm a 8 HCP and I've found that although I don't class myself as a big hitter my 240 to 250 yd carry which I'm fairly consistent with is much longer than the friends of mine that come up and use the skytrak.
They all say they hit 250+ Carry on the course and that when we play together I must be hitting it 270-280 as I'm 20-30 past them most of the time.. Yes with wind and elevation sometimes i hit longer but my Game Golf confirms my avg drives are very close to my skytrak range numbers.
My unit has been a big ego check for me and lots of guys that have used it, basically I know that 1 in 20 I can send out there 259 carry and roll out to 275+ but my Avg drive due to my inconsistencies is 235-245 carry.
Can you post a screen shot of the post shot data

I agree smudge, My IRL handicap hovers between 5-7 pending on what injuries im dealing with. My LI as a young man was 1.1 but those days are over for this old man, lol. Im not a big hitter either IRL average 250 carry 280 total. obvioulsy elevation/wind would change those numbers. I play at 400 feet IRL, if i jack units elevation to about 9500 my numbers get numbers close to IRL. Ill post a pic as i can take one. sim is in garage and computer is in office

Here is what I got.... When hitting the ball well. These numbers translate over pretty close.
I have had great luck using ST outdoors with wedges and and found those numbers are very close as well.

As another comparison, I just ran those same numbers through Optimal Flight and came out to 231.9 carry / 260.4 total. And you didn't provide the side spin, so that will shave some off for sure.
