Shot registration issues

More shot registration issues. Excuse the frustration, but I'm getting frustrated.

I've worked with support on this and requested a replacement unit while I was within the 30-day period. They decided to send me a loaner unit, under credit card ransom. I strongly disagree with that approach. I received the unit and also received the tarp for my cage in the same time-frame.

After covering my cage, the issue appeared to go away, so i returned the loaner unit.

Until today...

I don't have time to call support right now, so I'll just leave this here in the hopes that SkyTrak_Seth can shed some light on the issue and/or assist in facilitating a *new*, advance, replacement unit being shipped out. You can hold my CC# hostage again if you want.

I'm at work so I can't hear what you're saying in the video, but is your skytrak connected to your pc through usb cable or wifi?

Never mind, obviously wifi. Not sure what the issue is here to be honest. That's usually the culprit.

I know that can be frustrating. I have about five misreads a round. I'm using USB. My driver I tend to place about .25 to .5 behind the red dot. My 3 wood I place about an inch behind the red dot. All of my other clubs I can place just about anywhere near the red dot and be fine. Can you hook up to usb instead of wifi? Might be worth a shot. I had to get a longer cord.

Yeah, i may give that a shot, but to be honest, I'm really pretty much done troubleshooting this for them. I get paid really good $$$ to do that a work, but in this situation, the only thing I have gotten for my efforts is a bill from UPS for shipping.

I get a good kick out of the usb v wifi thing. Not sure I've ever heard a product that the manufacture states works more reliably wireless than wired. It's borderline comical...

Just wanted to say that I have been having very similar issues lately. Mine started about three weeks ago. I'm almost afraid to say what I did initially, but I would literally remove my skytrak from my home-built protective case and rapidly rotate it left to right horizontally until the red light went away. Then I would seem to be able to hit using the skytrak software. However, if I then launched JNPG, the shots would again cease from registering.

Ultimately, I removed it from my case, and it seemed to start working flawlessly. I assumed that the laser must have been somehow reflecting or bouncing strangely off the Lexan screen that I had fabricated on the front of the case, even though it had been working prior.

Honestly, I see all kinds of strange stuff from my skytrak. Inconsistent club readings for multiple users, very short long iron, 3W and driver shots when compared to rounds that I play on the course, etc. I have asked, and have not received an answer about the leveling of the unit. My unit, when leveled, and verified with multiple levels, the software shows that it has a -4 degree tilt.

I have been recently using Arccos on my golf clubs for real rounds, and once I accumulate 10 or 15 rounds, I intend to post all my club distances on here to prove my point about long shots being consistently short on sktrak. A really good drive for me on skytrak carries roughly 225 yards. Looking at my past two rounds in Arccos, here are my driver distances for two different courses: 253, 226, 197,221, 205, 225, 249, 264, 228, 290, 232, 241. 2nd course--227, 211, 258, 206, 226, 186, 282, 239, 223, 278, 190, 216, 237, 199

Granted, I can't account for rollout on those shots, but I have never come close to those distances on skytrak. Generally, if I do a practice session on skytrak using nothing but driver, if I get close to a 200 yard carry, it is a miracle. For my most recent session, I averaged 165 carry and 185 total.

I do feel like shot shape is fairly accurate for all clubs, but the distances are just very different than what I see. Maybe it is a combination of weather, wind, firmness, etc. but it makes playing JNPG difficult when most of drives can't make it 200 yards.

I went off track here a little bit, but it just makes me wonder about the overall consistency of the unit. Anyway, the other night when I was hitting, I had a buddy come over, and he made me nervous, so i put the skytrak back in my home-built case, and it worked fine.

Yes, I have a 10x10x17 cage I use it in.

Home after work, played 9 with 0 missed (registration) shots. Only difference is the location of the sun. Not my fault, I didn't move it.

Are you surprised that sunlight is causing shots to not be registered? It seems to be a well documented topic on these forums...

considering there is zero sun inside my cage, yes, i am surprised sun is causing an issue.

What kind of lighting are you using inside of your cage?

At that time of day, ambient lighting. The sun at that time is above and behind the cage. No direct sunlight is anywhere near the unit and directly behind the hitter is black canvas tarp that does not bleed though.

I'll take a couple still shots from outside the cage tomorrow around the same time of day.

At night, led low voltage lights are used and things work fine.

I have a Skytrak also and agree with the miss hits its not so bad when you shank a hit but when you smash one straight and true its for sure frustrating, I have noticed that the skytrak is a work in progress and I hope that they work it out soon I might pick it back up and put some hours back on it, until then I will stick with my other sim.

I've had times when mine would be awesome multiple rounds in a row. Then others it just stops registering altogether. I feel your pain as well. Your shoes don't have any reflectors like running shoes by chance do they? Also I've read that the hex patterns on callaway balls can cause problems. I started a network and registration tips and tricks thread to put all these in one place but couldn't get it stickied. Maybe they can do so before the winter tour is upon us.

Not only that but I read a comment this week about suggesting not to use white rubber tees. I have been using them and just completed an order for more white rubber tees. :/

I watched the video and it looked real bright on your hitting zone. The sun might be causing your problem. I would try to keep that direct light off the ball and first few feet. Shade it with something and if it takes care of it you have your answer.

1) You cannot complain about the inconsistency of a product when you've modified/fabricated a part to go on it

2) You mentioned it would read in SkyTrak but not in JNPG...the way it was worded I just have to ask - did you close the SkyTrak app before opening JNPG?

3) Your IRL driver distance fluctuates from 197 to 290 in one round!?!? Maybe you can post a screenshot of a shot history table and I can take a look at all the data and get a better idea as to what's going on.
