Does SkyTrak need occasional recalibration?

So decided to play the monthly WGT 9-hole tournament today and eagled 2nd hole (https://everyplay.com/videos/34147895) so was feeling great about this round. Then my SkyTrak went bonkers for the next 7 holes (i.e., crazy back and side spin numbers, 11k backspin off a fairway wood, >4k side spin off the driver, and even the side angles were going beserk like 20 degree side angles on driver shots that were perfectly struck straight into target in net, and even short chips were all over the place).

After the round (needless to say was very frustrating round from 3rd hole onwards), I decided to "reboot" my SkyTrak by turning it off, closed my WGT, turn SkyTrak back on, connected to SkyTrak app, closed SkyTrak app and reconnect to WGT. Play another 9 holes on WGT and the shots became slightly more normal.

So my question to SkyTrak_Seth is: Does the SkyTrak need to be reset, rebooted or recalibrated sometimes? And if so, how does one go about resetting, rebooting or recalibrating it? Simply turn off and turn back on? Or once in a while one should reset the pin at the bottom of the unit? Thanks in advance.

I have wondered the same. I don't use mine on a regular basis anymore, and sometimes it may be a week or two before I can get to it. Seems like the only way I can get it to connect to Wifi after a few days of not using it is by resetting it on the bottom. I am also wondering if anyone here has had an issue with their unit after warranty expires, and if so, how was it handled, if at all? Can these units be repaired by the manufacturer after warranty expires.

Well for one, it looks like we can pretty much rule out that eagle...must have been a faulty read

Seriously though, there is nothing that changes like that on the unit in regards to turning it off/on, doing a hard reset, etc. My best guess would be something silly like the ball or a different tee for that round?? Not saying this is it by any means, but I've been banging my head against the wall because the unit all of a sudden quit reading accurately, only to realize the ball I was using was cracked. Also make sure to clean that window on the front periodically.

Same ball, same tee though? But anyways things look back to more normal now.

Also one other thing I've realized is: when it gets darker I tend to get more crazy reads (like no backspin, extreme backspin, etc.). I know you've mentioned before SkyTrak does not require strong lighting - but does it need (or would it help to have) decent lighting directly on the ball? On my roof, I only have one light that shines from behind the ball (i.e., shining from behind the hitting mat down the target line towards the hitting net/target). Thanks.

If things get worse when it gets darker, it sounds like it's having a hard time reading the mark on the ball. Are you using clean white golf balls? Prominent black mark?

What do you suggest we clean the front lens with? I don't want to scratch up the lens and cause issues.

Also make sure to clean that window on the front periodically.

Each time after I used the SkyTrak, I clean that front window using those soft lint-free cloth (i.e., the ones you use to clean your sunglasses, computer/phone screen, etc.) and never with water or any other type of cloth. Is that too abrasive? If so, any other suggestions on what to use? Thanks.
