Don't but that!!!!! Those are low specs even for a laptop. You don't want to play games on 1366x768. GTX960m is really weak. The hard drive is really slow as well. If you already have this computer, it may play TGC on low settings. If you are sticking to a tight budget..... move to a desktop.

I use a laptop with a 980m for my skytrak and TGC and I wouldn't recommend anything less in a laptop

Check out the alienware 15" models, they appear to have a beefier graphics card:
        http://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/produ...-laptop?~ck=bt $1,349.99

        Intel® Core™ i5-6300HQ
        • Windows 10 Home 64bit English
        • 8GB DDR4 at 2133MHz
        • NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 1060 with 6GB GDDR5

I am not sure if that is the same graphics card as the desktop but if it is, it will likely run it well. Plus you get a nicer screen

        15.6 inch FHD (1920 x 1080) IPS Anti-Glare 300-nits Display

Hopefully, thats the same graphics card that is getting good reviews on the desktop side.

You guys are scaring me. I have almost the same computer as Rcush88 except it has 12 gb ram. MSI laptop. I have JNPG for skytrak and it works great. I then downloaded a sale version of TGC for computer gaming today and tried it via keyboard play and it seemed to be even better then JNPG. I was checking the CPU while I played TGC and there was no strain on it at all. If I purchase the download of TGC for skytrak is it any different? I have 10 days to return the laptop but it sure seems to run well including skytrak app.

Not sure, I bought a high end desktop with the GTX 1070 but I may have been scared into it. I didn't want to spent $1k on software and have it run poorly and I didn't have a spare computer to run it on so I was buying something anyway. My guess is that its when people cranked up the resolution/details/etc that they have trouble. I haven't setup my whole sim experience yet and have just been running at 720P on an old 32" TV and it still looks pretty amazing. Eventually I will hook it up to my projector and run 1080P.

Sim performance is the same as the PC game. Both use the same engine. GTX970, GTX1060 or better will allow you to increase the detail even more.

ProTee United , when you say increase the detail, are you saying it will look better on screen and will that portray onto a screen, via projector. I guess what I'm asking is will I have a better picture with sharper detail by going to GTX970 from my GTX 960? Its a big up cost in Canada. I don't mind paying the difference, but would like to have a value for the cost.

The improvement is in the amount of trees and rendering distance. Anything in front of the camera will already look awesome on a 960, but its the quality and amount of objects visible in the background. More objects on a course require more rendering power. GTX970 or better will increase performance resulting in faster rendering and smoother graphics allowing more high detailed objects showing further away from the camera = even better experience.

ProTee United and by the way, your TGC looks amazing. I heard it was good and I only played a few holes but was really impressed. I will by the sim version as soon as I get this computer thing figured out. Thank you for commenting.

Okay so the GTX 1060 would be ideal then, correct? If so I will return this one with the 960.

Yes, 1060 seems to be the best bang for your buck. After that you run into diminishing returns. On a budget???? buy the 1060 for sure. I had a GTX 680 and went to a 970.... that was a good upgrade. I then went to the 980ti. Although it is better, it's hard to see the extra value.

thank you keither5150, I am searching for a 16 gb ram, GTX 1060 i7 right now. I guess I really should have done that before I bought the 960 but at least the store said I have 15 days to return it so that is no problem at least as it has only been 7 days.

Thank you, that is good information. Did not realize about the RAM but will probably get the 16 Gb as it is the same price as the 8 Gb I'm looking at. The Costco laptop mentioned is not even offered on Canada Costco. Costco won't let me purchase from the US site. If it was, that laptop would be about $1900. The MSI I am looking at is $1899 with the i7, 16Gb, GTX 1060. The US has great prices, lucky you guys. Cheers and thanks again guys.

Keither5150 is correct about the 960 being week. I was trying both TGC and JNPG and they both worked well at first but when I went to try it again the next day the flyover was jittery and the detail of the objects did not look right. I retract my earlier post that it worked well with that set up. Settings were no on high either.

Something is wrong then. The 960 will run PG great. It does ok on tgc too...not great but decent...certainly not jittery or lacking detail.

Unless you mean the 960m which is a completely different card. The 960m is much weaker than the 960.

The 960m.....m = mobile. The 10 series mobile cards from Nvidia have really closed the gap. The 980m is a great mobile card for TGC.... but the 960m...not so much. FC.... I agree with you about desktops vs laptops..... for the love of God, buy a desktop unless you need to take it mobile. For the cost of a gaming laptop, you can buy a cheap laptop and a gaming desktop that will outperform the gaming laptop. Unless you go with a 10 series laptop... then it may be close. To clarify... the GTX 960m is very weak and the GTX960 will play TGC on medium settings just fine. The 960m would most likely have to play on low settings to get a decent FPS.

I will have a look again today, but there was a noticeable difference the second day. I only have 3 programs on the laptop from new, steam, JNPG and TGC. I did change the settings for the trees, sky etc to make it more defined. I actually don't know if the card is a 960m or 960. I will check that also. Why would there be such a difference in the card? Should the 960m perform close to the 960? I'm still taking the laptop back next week and getting a GTX1060 card laptop. Thanks again.

                  Not even close. http://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare...0/m27242vs3165
The 960m is nowhere near the 960 for gaming. The 10 series mobile cards are the first cards that are coming close to their desktop cousins.
