So it is a 960m. It seems to work fine with default settings on both PG and TGC but as soon as I increase settings at all it seems to have issues. When I used high settings on TGC I could not even swing a club without it freezing up using mouse (I don't have it for skytrak yet). If I returned it to default settings it worked fine. I have ordered a unit with 1060 card and should be here this week. Thanks again for the help. Would have taken me longer to figure out without everyones help. cheers.
Topic beaten ugly by a stick but would this alienware work well with tgc

Are there any laptops out there with a i7 and gtx 1060 under $1200.00. That's as high as I want to go and really don't want to lug a desktop back and forth. This is for TGC.

This gets you close (I know nothing about the brand etc.) just did a newegg search: 1299 plus a $50 gift card
It does get you an i7, 1060 and a SSD. Makes me think if you can find one with an I5 and no SSD, you might hit your number.

First, have you checked out this GREAT thread?
I've commented randomly in various posts on this subject but thought it would be worthwhile to collect the main info in one thread. I'll cover the key pieces that
If you are looking for the best bang for your buck desktop and are willing to install a video card and power supply. I think Sledge did all the work for you. That ebay computer is steal. Add a video card and swap the power supply then smile as you spent less than I did for a similar spec'd computer!
Hi! I've been looking at this forum for quite a while now, and finally decided to take the leap and go for TGC. I am building a simulator computer, but I am a
Ebay desktop for $400, buy a GTX 1060 or 1070 Video Card, buy a power supply, maybe an ssd. I spent around $1200 for a desktop with an i7, 16Gb RAM, and a 1070.
Faulty Clubs I think posted this desktop for $800 which looks like a great deal too.
There have been a lot of good threads on computer builds the past couple weeks. I likely would have spec'd one a little more modestly if I had seen those threads prior to buying mine.

Okay, I have a new laptop with GTX 1060 card. I tested the 960m again and it worked quite well with default settings. It also looked good graphic wise. As soon as I started to increase details such as trees etc it would still work fine with skytrak but it would not run as smooth and details started to look off at times. Flyover is what I noticed was not as smooth any more.
I have tried the GTX1060 laptop only once but I increased the details quite a bit and it ran really well and smooth. Everything looked great. So it was a $700 cdn increase from the other laptop and money well spent. I should have forked out for the right laptop to start with, seems silly to build a $6000 sim and cheap out on the item that runs the software. Thanks everyone for the helpful info. I now have to figure out if I should replace my projector? Optima that is 720p. Looks good but not sure how much better a 1080p would actually show on the screen/net. I will search the forum. Cheers

as long as the impact screen is a high quality i think its worth the upgrading your projector, but I also watch movies on my projector as well as play the ps4 and Xbox1, just my little opinion is it worth anything who knows...........

upgrading is your personal choice and there are probably a lot of players that are very happy with the 720p and are content, others that want to get the most out of there system and quality of the picture, will it help yes to what extent i don't know i have never owned a 720 projector. but if you base it off a regular 720 TV i can see the difference.
