  • PC requirements - TGC on Steam vs TGC thru Skygolf

Why the disparity between TGC PC requirements on Steam and TGC with a Skytrak? I've attached the screenshots for your viewing pleasure.

Why would the Steam version be so much less PC intensive? (Steam is the first pic, Skygolf is second). I understand that the PC has a little more legwork to do... but that much of a difference? The main reason I'm wondering is because I was going to try the Steam version first for $10 to test my PC, but if they're not even comparable, then I'm wasting my time. Thanks in advance for your input guys/gals.

    For your reading pleasure.

The PC game and Simulator edition use exactly the same engine.
The difference in requirements is a commercial, best experience and tech support related decision.

1] If you want to sell lots of PC games you will want to advertise specs that will run the game at the lowest resolution, which is acceptable for $40.
2] PC games basically have no support. We don't want to support low end PC's and low end Graphic Cards, as we know the performance is not good enough for users who spent their savings into building an awesome TGC simulator.
3] For the best experience on a big screen you want to run TGC on high detail 720p or 1080p and not on a 640x480 resolution with low detail.
4] SkyTrak hardware (and others) also require processing power. SkyTrak analyzing the ball on an Intel Core 2 duo will take 30 seconds or more.
5] Designed courses are getting more details every day. At some point the minimum specs will be OK for a simple course, but not for the better designed, lots of objects, lots of detail ones.
6] We want happy customers and not frustrated customers. Smooth ball flights, fast rendering, high detailed graphics without any performance issues is the best way to achieve this. If you spent a lot of money building your simulator you don't want choppy graphics because of a low end PC (which is the core of the entire experience).

In a nutshell, we don't want anyone to run a $3,000+ golf simulator on an outdated Intel Duo Core 2 computer with a low end graphics card and get frustrated with the quality and performance and we also don't want anyone to constantly upgrading processor and graphics card to meet new course design standards or software updates.

If your PC is not build for todays gaming standard, then do not buy TGC.

Due to computer location and monitor being in my garage, i don't see myself ever using my sim computer to create a course. If i just want to create courses on a laptop, would i be able to with this setup? I would not play on this, just use it for design.

        Current laptop specs
        Win7
        I5 5300
        4GB
        Integrated video HD Graphics 5500
