Connecting to a hard wired computer

I bought a PC to play TGC with and it has a wireless card on it. But since my router is right beside the PC, I figured I might as well hard wire it.
Can the ST connect to the PC via network mode using wifi if the PC is hardwired?

I would think that it should be able to since both would be on the same network.

Anyone done this before?

Yup, do it every day. My Skytrak is even a ways from my router and still works just fine.

I turned on the WiFi on the PC and now everything is connecting properly again!

I am just hooking up my new ST and am having the same issues. Hardwired PC with wireless card in it but it will not talk to ST. I am a long ways from the router-thats why I decided to hard wire it. Everything works fine when using USB.

Make sure that the Skytrak is on the same wireless network your computer would be using. Also don't use 5ghz for the Skytrak.

^^^ all this is right and works great for me as well. I even use mines outside (wifi network is relatively strong). I do have one question for everyone. To connect the box when you first boot up TGC, you HAVE to plug the skytrak into the cpu first right?

Nope. I only use Wifi and recommend you do as well once you have the Skytrak set up on it there's no need to use USB except for keeping it plugged in to the power outlet to keep it charged.

Mine is working fine on WiFi now. I was trying to boot up both both TGC and Game Improvement Package at the same time.....duh! I told you I was a newbie........

Has anyone used a micro USB cord and plugged into the PC instead of WIFI and have better luck?

Hey, my hardwire set was working great. I went away for just over a week & come back & I cannot get onto the Society to play tourneys. Now hardwired I can get onto the golf course on TCG but not on the society to play tourneys. I first connect the Skytrak for the hardwire connection on the wifi page on the computer.
Then open up TCG, it seems like it spinning to connect, it’s hardwired it should be super fast, no? When I try to go into the society it says you have to go back to the main to connect, weird. Any ideas?
