Skytrak first impressions: launch angle too low/issue with woods. Please need advice

Hi all, finally my new Skytrak arrived on Monday. I suddendly had a first check with irons (just dozen of shots) and everything went perfect. Then, this afternoon, I tried hardly woods and the result was horrible: launch angle with driver beetween 0 and 3 degrees, same with 3 wood. With the 4 iron my average launch angle was 7 degrees. Did anybody of you ever encounter troubles such these? I play in a garage which is down th level of the ground (5 meters). Maybe this could affect something? I can't understand why my launch angle is that low. Any suggestion will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance and bye all

I have had low launch angles with woods but that is because I was launching it low. Where is it hitting your screen net? Are you sure it was a high launching shot? A launch angle of 7 degrees with a 4 iron is really low. If you take that same swing with a driver I would expect even lower launch.

Thanks for the answer. I really was hitting well so it os strange I had a 7 degree average with the 4 iron. But sounds incredible that many times I saw drivers at 0 degree (the others 3 degree)

      Something sounds way wrong.
There is a manual method to measure and calculate launch angle.
Place a high speed camera behind the golfer such that you can see where the ball hits the screen.
It is best to have some graduated display or tape on your screen to know for sure where it hits.
Measure the height of the bottom, or center, of the ball to the floor while on the tee
Measure the distance to the screen from the ball's starting position.
Divide the height the ball, bottom or center, hit the screen minus the height it started on the tee and divide that number by the distance to the screen,
Then find the angle who's tangent is that number and that will be the calculated launch angle,

I have some issues with the Skytrak unit, but overall it seems quite good.

Ok lets take care of the obvious things first because people may be overlooking these, and a new user may just not know. Dont take it personal if this sounds really silly and you already know these.

        1. Do you have the skytrak on the same surface that you are hitting balls from? it needs to be on your mat or at least on the same level as you mat or very close to it.
        2. try ball position, think of ball position with the laser as the opposite you would do with it in your stance. hit your mid irons, 6,7,8 right on the laser dot, as you get to wedges move it slightly forward of the dot as you hit woods slightly behind the dot. I have had some people need to tee the ball up 2 inches behind the laser dot with driver before to get it to read. (I dont think this is your issue because usually I just have shots not read at all if ball position is off but im just mentioning it as something to experiment with.)
        3. if you are using it indoors and this is the first few times you have swung indoors at this spot, there is an indoor effect that almost everyone goes through, some lose distance some get crazy launches until they get used to freely swinging in the new environment. It could just be you are not even realizing you are swinging differently because you are inside.

These are just a few things I could think of, hopefully they help if not best of luck getting it working good.

What do you mean when yo say to put the ball behind the laser with woods and forward with wedges? Do tou men respectively on the right and on the left of the dot given my address posizion? Thanks
