  • Hitting turf wars - Fiberbuilt vs CCE, why not both!

So I've been having some elbow issues with my CCE as I generally am a digger and try to hit down and through the ball. Because of this I wanted to switch to fiberbuilt, but didn't like the sound of the putting issues. I decided to try to have both and created a sliding platform that my SkyTrak sits on. This allows me to slide the platform towards my feet and the fiberbuilt turf to hit irons/wedges and slide it away from my feet to the CCE to hit driver/fairway woods/putter quickly and easily. I also raised both turfs to be slightly higher than my surrounding turf so they are the same level as the SkyTrak on the platform. It was quite easy to do and has been working great thus far. Just thought I'd share the idea if anyone else is looking for a similar setup and doesn't want to pick up and move the SkyTrak all the time.

I also fixed a laser level pointer on the same line as the alignment line generated from the SkyTrak so when I move the sliding platform the laser line shows me were the virtual center line should be.

Looks pretty good. You sure it's not against the rules of golf? Isn't there something about improving your lie? Just Kidding!!!

    Very nice solution.

here is also something along the same lines that I was waiting forever to come to reality but it never happened, I see all the issues with the LM and wanting to go to fiberbuilt but hate the putting aspect and picking up the LM to putt

I actually see that they pulled this off there website and are not offering it anymore, I might build one for mine and see what you guys think.

That's awesome! Mine is a pretty cheapo version of that. I mostly had all the pieces laying around my garage as far as the track and platform were concerned. I definitely think there'd be a market for the one in the youtube video. I wonder why they pulled it.

no idea but its food for thought on how to advance your set up or others to get the best of both worlds it also was supposed to be multi handed which is the main reason I went to the protee system

Interesting. Although to keep the center aligned with the center of the screen you could have the mats in a straight line and cut down in length and have it slide front and back. As long as it doesn't slide when you hit it.

How do you like the fiberbuilt mat? I have a CCE strip as well and although I like it, it is aggravating at times in that it punishes you too harshly for hitting a ball even slightly heavy. Whereas on grass if you have a good swing and hit it slightly heavy the club more or less goes on through smoothly the CCE grabs the club. Using the CCE to calculate distances is challenging because if you use any shots that are hit slightly fat then it will underestimate average, but you dont want to get in habit of deleting all bad shots either. It is a balance.
