Options for practice and driving range software?

Are there other options if I simply want driving range and practice software and not full golf course simulation?

According the ST website, buying the machine only gets you driving range. If you add the improvement package at $99/yr, you get some of their practice software plus closest to pin on a WGT course.

I only use the driving range for practice.
Hardly use the other stuff. Certainly not worth the $99 for just simple practice

Your options are the basic driving range(free) and the game improvement plan($99/year). The game improvement gives added features to the driving range.
