I seem to be getting high launch angles, 7 iron, 4300 rpm, 73 ss, 100 bs, 140ish carry. I read where I should be in the 7K range rpm and optimal is in the 17-18 degree launch angle. Basic Man or Machine question. Does anyone else see low backspin numbers like this?

Numbers can change a ton based on your mat, your ball. the 7k is about right. I have a blown up version of the PGA tour averages that trackman has published and have it posted in my sim room. I know on one of my mats, a hair fat, that would go unpunished outside gets beat to hell on the indoor system.-

Hey I was using that same mat and my numbers seemed to be way off... like 20 yards short on all my irons for some reason ... I bought their 5x5 driving range mat and everything is right on the money distance wise now. I think that mat was a bit too thick and my club was getting caught up a bit in it IDK...

Only, your launch angle is missing
What kind of ball do you use? The ideal numbers you mention are for pros using Pro-V1s. Backspin numbers may vary wildly if you use a distance ball, for instance.
As for launch angle, 17-18 is an average on the PGA (I assume that's where you got your numbers), but some of them hit it lower and some much higher. Not every good player hits the ball the same way.
Also, depending on your ball speed, spin may be much lower. Don't expect to get 7k spins with a 7-iron launching the ball under 115mph. 5,5k spins with your bs seems more achievable with a pro-V1 and clean grooves.Comment

Here ya go. Not sure how this mat compares to anything else in this price range but I really liked the quality of the thicker one so I stuck with that company... I also bought the 1x4 for my putting strip and the 1x2 that the skytrak sits on but they were slightly different colors for some reason but it doesn't bother me so I kept them..

Normal people can't really use PGA averages to compare clubs too. Need to be more concerned with ball speeds and LPGA averages are probably more in line with average male golfers. Spin rate really depends on loft of club and clubs these days are getting stronger lofts. A pro 7 iron might be have the same loft as a game improvement 6 iron or even stronger. I'd pay more attention to the landing angle, getting around 45-50* landing angle with irons usually has decent stopping power. If you launch th ball higher than averages and have lower spin rates can wind up with same landing angles as lower launches and high spin rates.Comment
