  • What software should I get for skytrak

I'm getting a skytrak set up for xmass!! what software should I get? I want to be able to play lots of courses, with other people around the globe and practice my game?? also be able to play games with my friends in my set up? I see there is a bunch of different Sims for skytrak which one is the best?

TGC is my favorite, but let me tell you why.

Pros - lots of courses and many of them are great. The Tours Protee has setup are very good. Recently, a web page has been made for group play among forum members and this is very good.
Cons - only one tee box per player. So if you want to play 7000 yards your buddy also has too. This should be fixed in the next version. Cost - at 1,000 it is not cheap, but reasonable.

Hope that helps. In case not clear - TGC is my vote. See you on the tour.

Try to play Jack Nicholas Perfect Golf and TGC and choose the one you prefer. I prefer JNPG but both are great.

TGC and JNPG are both fun but TGC seems to have the most realistic golf feel for me. Not to mention the tour is a blast!

I wasn't able to try any out, but from strictly reading and looking at all the aspects of them and videos that are around, i went with TGC as well. I am in the process of setting it all up.

I am also getting ready to pull the trigger. I have been working on my "build" for two years and just bought a compute beefy enough to do simulation. I have searched all the forums and there seems to be a consensus that TGC is the top dog. The heartburn that I am having is that the whole reason I started on the sim journey was that I saw a screen shot of a guy playing the RTJ The Judge course. And just when I was going to buy TGC, Skytrak made the course pack on Trugolf that includes the Judge available. I have downloaded TGC on Steam and searched for that course in TGC with no luck, and I just can't imagine having the time to learn coursebuilder and pull off building it myself. And when you add the course pack the money is pretty much the same between the two.

It's not that hard to learn course making. Design the course yourself. Heck if it's good it may be a Tour stop!

A follow-up note for those still researching, I went ahead and bought the E6, with the idea that maybe in a few months or a year I would move over to TGC. I had the chance to play with it the last couple of days, and here are my quick observations. First, as everyone has said the graphics are not nearly as strong as TGC; however, while my kid had a play date yesterday, I took another dad to my garage to play 9 and since he has not been researching and agonizing over software he thought it was awesome - so I guess I would say not as good but it looks pretty dang good to old guys who grew up on Asteroids. I don't know if I was lucky or what but getting everything hooked up was seamless. It took the software a few hours to install updates, but after that I was hooked up to the skytrak and hitting balls in 15 minutes. Putting was a disaster for me, but I think it would have been on any simulator, it will take time to get a feel with a different kind of visual feedback - I should note that I am looking at a tv to the side and not a projected image in front of me and that might make a difference. The other dad was not much of a golfer (neither am I, but I mean he was bad) and it was nice to pull up a par 3 course with amateur tee boxes, if I could have done it without him seeing I would have added a boost factor to his player. - As of now, I am pretty happy with the purchase. I guess one thing to note, is that I don't live in a cold weather climate, I was able to play outside golf this weekend, so maybe I'm not necessarily looking for the same level of immersion as some.

Very understandable. Once you start playing on it you'll be so impressed with the graphics that you may just forget that other couse. There are members here that design courses for TGC. . Mthunt is one of them.. consult with him he maybe able to do it for you

Lots of new players coming to TGC. I bought mine in Aug 2015. Back then there were only about 15-20 active players on the tour..... The tour is a blast. I hardly play any other courses as I am always practicing for the next event. Aeroburner has set up a great lobby for players to join up and play live together. ProTee has awesome support for any players who have issues. Even after more than a year and about 340 rounds, I am still like a kid at Christmas when I am playing on my sim. TGC is a huge part of that.

agree 100% with keither this is a blast and its growing quickly and protee is keeping up with the demand very well with that amount of traffic that is now coming at them in growth of members and group play and TGC is evolving and its a blast to watch. Like I said before can not wait till what 2017 has in store for TGC
