How many rounds are people getting out of a single ball? I noticed when a ball has been in play for a while and gets scuffed from normal play that my readings seem to be off. Slices start to occur on shots I know should draw. Changing out the ball seems to fix the issues. Has anyone else noticed this?

In order to maximize the life of the ball change it's orientation every shot. If you don't you will be whacking the ball in the same spot. This doesn't not happen in normal golf.
When you observe your distances going down you are well on your way to having a large crack in the ball. Sometime before this you will have small cracks which are hard to spot but which will effect the ball performance.. -

I have split so many balls... I spend more money in balls in my basement than in real life... it is unreal... I wore lots of paint off the truvis balls ... they feel more like a pool ball that a golf ball... if u see ball speed drop... change balls... I have been rotating through about 4 balls randomly just to give them a break... I think when I use the same ball over and over it does something in the core/mantle and then the ball splits quicker.. not sure about misreads but when the ball speed goes away there are probably microfissures in the cover ..how many licks does it take to get to the center of a tootsie pop... don't know..Comment

You are losing paint on the truvis ball? Is it leaving marks on your screen? I was going to give these a go at some point, will pass if this is the case.

This is a thing. I go through a lot of balls with my sim as well. I've found that the Chrome Soft balls crack very quickly, but a ball like the NXT Tour S will last longer. The real bargain is those K-Sig balls. The paint comes off (which doesn't affect my ball readings), but they take forever to crack. Much more durable then a Chrome Soft or ProV1 in my experience.Comment

I find the opposite with the k-sig balls. They seem to wear out quicker for me and maybe i am nuts but i think the ball flight is affected by the worn out balls.Comment

I have been playing bridgestone E6's and I can't seem to get more than 2-3 rounds out of them. Might be because it's cold, then I turn my heater on in my shop and hit a couple hours later. I think the cold is really hard on them because I don't remember breaking so many when it was warm.Comment

Yeah I currently don't swing as fast as I probably could, so on the slower side, but I usually have 3-5 balls I rotate and it is pretty rare that I have to take one out of rotation.
With that being said I'm not hitting 100 balls a day, I wish I could.
Although I can't imagine throwing out a ball after a round or two. I could probably get 10 rounds easily playing only one ball. I'm sure others are pickier, or just more in tune with the ball degradation. Shrug.Comment

Seems to me like the ball spinning at 8000 rpm into a nylon net is like taking sandpaper to the ball. I've also split a Project (a) ball too. Not sure why they split. I've never seen that on the course even with heavily used balls.

I normally lose balls too quickly IRL! I bought the Kirkland signature balls and they are great. Will be interested in seeing how long they last. Downside with skytrak is since it is more accurate seeing the logo, I am probably wacking the golf ball in the same place.My courses:

Be careful with this. Dont notice any marks on the screen at all from where you are hitting, but if you get real close to the screen you can start noticing some very very faint pink marks on it from the truvis balls. I bought a sleeve of Truvis, hoping the pattern would allow ST to see the ball better and so reduce the number of no-reads I experience. The results were actually the opposite - I got way more no-reads with the Truvis balls than with plain white balls, and quickly stopped using them indoors. SkyTrak has written that the ideal is a white ball with a straight black line logo. My interpretation is that the cameras are looking for the logo, interpolating a line through it, then sees the logo again a split second later, draws a line through that, and calculates spin from that change of position of the interpolated lines. My guess is that a straight dark logo would be more reliable than a pale curvy one. And the calculation wasn't designed to pick up or use the soccer ball pattern, so it's no help at all. Some people have talked about drawing one inch lines with a black sharpie, I haven't tried it yet.Comment
