A few thoughts:
1. TM sells a track light in their website that they suggest people e to get the correct lumens.
2. In the FAQ area is some brochures. One of them is for lighting and provides all of the details that you need if you choose to purchase your own light.
3. For putting and short chips, I use a ball that does not have the metallic dot. I also prefer to use a yellow ball. Not sure why this makes a difference, but for indoor use it seems to work well. Also, I define short chips as something under 10 yards.
4. If in sim play and are putting off the green, please ensure that you select putter.
5. If a lighting solution is going to take time, do you have a spotlight or lamp that you can shine on your hitting area to brighten it up a little. This might help elevate some frustration while you wait to put in your more permanent solution.
6. Call technical support (they will get back to you Monday likely given the time now). They are very helpful.
really hope you can find a temporary solution, as I know it is frustrating if things don’t work off the bat like you had hoped (surprised this was not all worked out during the sales process. Another temp solution that will likely help a lot is see if you can find one of those LED camera studio lights.

Forgot to mention that the only club data that you should not be getting good results on is contact point. All other club measurements don’t care about the lighting. For these I would suggest hitting at the ideal distances from tee to the front of the TM4. Ideal is noted as 9 feet and I would suggest ensuring that TM is at the same height as the tee. Also, go into the settings and make sure for putting you enter the distance from TM4 to the area that you are putting from. For wedges, I also suggest that you hit more right of centre (assuming you are right handed) from your centre line. I find that for my driver I can be in centre line and 8 feet from my TM4 to get over 95% of my club data. For my wedges I can’t recall my data pick up rate but I would say it is about 80% plus when I am hitting 9 feet and say 6 to 10 inches right of the centre line (note I am not to precise on this as I am typically just rolling the ball with my club into place and getting the metal dot facing the screen (Really looking forward to those new balls that have been mentioned).

First thing is to set your distance from tee to screen. If the blue line is above the bottom of the screen then you have likely set the distance too high.
next I line the horizontal yellow line to the bottom of the screen (which for me is pretty much in line with the blue line (actually a touch higher). The vertical cross hair I try to line that up to the centre of my screen.
the other option is to try auto target, this takes seconds at most but does require a projector.
a nice thing to know is that when playing virtual golf 2, the ball that appears on the screen is your centre point and putting/ hitting to that should give you a straight shot.

Thanks for all the help I broke down and ordered a light.... as my lights just. We’re too inconsistent
I have my trackman 7’10 from hitting areas and another 10ft to screen I’m still getting inconsistent putting results
club data is about 90% ... I’ve set putting to 7”10 on trackman setting but I tried putting from 6ft from radar mixed results with yellow balls and sticker

Try no sticker for putting. Also, see if 8 feet makes any difference. I would also go into the putting section of the sim and look to where the blue shaded boxes are in terms of your hitting mat when you are setting the alignment (this might help give you a good idea of where might be a good area to putt from (suspect you tried this, but just trying to Go through in my head what I might try.

much better than the quad or hawk in my opinion love the software the simulation and the portability of taking it to the range

The impact location data is pretty finicky from what I've seen. Note I don't own a Trackman but I hit on one a couple times a week and do some informal IT support for the store as I'm more techy than the manager.
There is three bays at the place I go with all three setup exactly the same and the impact location works great in two of them but we can't get it working in the third one. It's been awhile since we looked at it but my recollection was the "not enough light" error was the issue despite having exactly the same lights as the other bays.
I love the Trackman software package. I'd be more than willing to pay the annual fee to have it if I could afford the upfront purchase of the radar. I know a lot of people hate fee based models but I think it allows the company to continually upgrade and enhance and as long as they follow through (and don't discontinue the software before the device literally dies) it makes sense to me.
