I'm not too familiar with Trackman but I just got fitted for the TSi3 driver yesterday on one. Even with my current M3, numbers seemed a little inflated vs what I see on the course. I understand in some launch monitors gear reps could increase elevation or wind speed to inflate carry distance numbers. My question is if this could have been possible on the trackman they were using? Also if they did do that, my clubhead speed and ball speed should remain unaffected, correct?

Club speed and ball speed should not be affected. On TPS, they can adjust both elevation and temp, but should not be able to boost carry distances etc. Was this outdoors or indoors and did they use a metal sticker on the ball (were they using a premium ball)? I have recently learned that some fitting centers are not bothering putting a metallic sticker on the ball for their indoor fittings and this makes me scratch my head as to why they would do this. Also, were they using a TM4?
The number that you should be going with is carry and not total as well (roll out is just estimated - I cannot remember what TM uses for their range in TPS for ground firmness, but did not think that they had it set to hard - depending on the range that was used, I believe this can also be adjusted in TPS).

I don’t own a TM4 but hit on one a couple times a week indoors.
- it’s easy to change temp/elevation in the menus and it wouldn’t be super obvious to a customer. Feels like there’s less to gain here for a proper fitter where you’ve brought your own driver than say Golf Town where you rarely have your own club but I guess people could be motivated to juice everything.
- if you got the reports they may say it’s normalized data and give the temp/elevation if I recall. If you got the electronic interactive reports I think you can turn on normalization yourself to a set level (maybe not your actual elevation/climate though).
- the club and ball data will be actual measurements so if you look at ball speeds, launch angle and spin between clubs you can tell which performs better without even looking at the calculated carry.
- if spin numbers are in italics it means they were estimated not measured. Personally I find the calculated spin is higher for me than when it’s measured which generally speaking makes me shorter (you do need stickers unless room was very big to get measured spin indoors in my experience)
- ignore rollout for sure. I live in a cool damp climate for most of the year the TM4 roll is at least double what I get on a good day.
If the driver you tried outperformed your current one I’d say your relatively safe as dropping temp/elevation would influence both. While I guess not impossible it seems unlikely the fitter would change the settings on the fly to hinder your old club if they are remotely reputable as many people that go to the fitter would know TM4 well enough to catch flipping to settIngs between clubs to monkey with things.

Thanks for the feedback! I was outdoors, no stickers, hitting range balls that were new NXT Tours (club replaced them this month). I play ProV1x so I wouldn't think terribly different from the range balls. The TSi3 was about 10 yards longer than my current M3 (280 vs 270 carry, both right around 110 clubhead speed). Both of your feedbacks make me feel confident in the carry and clubhead speed numbers on the Trackman.
