  • Would you buy a Trackman 4 Again?

Some background - In the spring I'm breaking ground on an extension to my home to house a simulator (30x16x10.5). Being a lefty and having righty friends thinking Trackman 4 is best way to go. Would love to hear from current sim owners of TM4 their thoughts after owning the system for some time.

Love the TM4 and would definitely buy it again / recommend it to clients. Getting club data without stickers is a big convenience.

A good alternative would be the Uneekor EYE XO - good righty/lefty support, good TGC 2019 support, great software, and half the price. We'd be happy to chat you through the decision if you call us at 512-861-4151.

I second Ron on the X0. I put a few into friends places and the thing is bullet proof for half the price of TM4. Having said that, if you have 14 feet from the ball to the screen and don’t mind 10 foot gimmies, you’ll love the TM4. The X0 works in anything.

I would definitely stick to TM. Although with that said, my upgrade path right now would be a TM5 if that ever comes to market as my TM4 is just perfect. My version has the Outdoor license added, which has been fantastic when going to my driving range.

The virtual courses look amazing and I really find putting to be spot on. TM will tell you the stimp of your putting surface when you have the putting version of the software selected and then I set my Virtual golf to that setting and the distances etc in Virtual Golf are spot on.

TM support and customer service is what you would expect for when you are paying a premium for the hardware as well as the software. These guys are just fantastic to work with and they care that any issues get resolved. My last issue was that my projector settings were off a bit for Virtual golf and so I was not getting the full resolution to my screen. Support was able to remotely log into my system and solve the issue within an hour (this was a weekday afternoon).

if you want to see the latest course design for graphics etc, look at my recent ost in the TM 3 new courses thread and the one before that. This is what you get now for course graphics and not what has been promised as a yet to come.

if I was to do it again though and did not have the space, then I would go with a GC3, but only with some sort of protection to me regarding their promised software upgrade. You can’t do this as you have lefty righty issues. With that said, I agree with the above comments re Uneekor. I would likely choose one of those over the Hawk ( I would lean to the more expensive version though as I would prefer not to use marked balls).

        hope this helps!

Hey Dax - I've wondered when Trackman will release the TM5, has there been any discussion when that could be expected? Any potential for an announcement at the PGA Show this January?

      • #5
davelewis21 not sure if anyone knows when TM5 will be coming out. I had thought it was to be released in January 2021, but TM came out and mentioned they had no plans to release a new version at the time as they found the TM4 was doing everything that they wanted.

Given the above, it is hard to say when one will be released and the discussions I have seen revolve around the possibility of a cheaper model with fewer radars in the unit. Not sure if this will happen, but who knows.

Thanks Dax, curious what product we'll see in this space at the PGA. Have played Uneekor Eye XO, found it nice but do like the possibility of using TM4 outdoors.

I have TM4 and love it. Very reliable and accurate. I'm never troubleshooting. The courses are absolutely amazing and they keep rolling out new ones. If you want the most accurate data you will need to get the lighting correct so that it can best calculate spin axis. The new Titleist RCT (radar) balls are very nice as well. No need to place the metal stickers on the balls any longer. I also run TGC2019 and E6 on it. Downside is it's not the lowest cost option available, but it's a case where you get what you pay for. I agree with folks above that Uneekor also looks very good.

I'm curious what ball to screen measurements you all have?

My biggest hesitation regarding TM4 is spin axis accuracy, especially with the driver.
