E6 Demo (with skytrak) questions

I'm trying the demo and really like it. Only two things put me off renting it for a year.

There does not seem to be a way to determine whether the skytrak has been set to putting mode, normal mode, or short game mode, nor is there a way to change the mode if (for example) you want to putt from just off the green. Possibly as a result of this playing around the greens is very hit and miss(read). Also there is no way to re-arm the skytrak if the top light stays red, I have to come out of E6 and go back in.

I don't mind using 'auto-score' to do my putting for me but it putts out from greenside bunkers!

Finally, the meteor tracer is nearly invisible and the solid tracer is an incredibly ugly black line that obscures the ball. Particularly at the range it's unusable. Old tracers don't fade and you end up with a mess all over the screen.

I too am new to E6 and liked the demo so much I ordered it...should be here today - looking out the window for UPS while I write this. You can see where you are at in the top right hand corner of screen it will read fairway, fridge or green. Not sure if you can change to putter when in fairway - in sims I never try this.

The tracer at the start of the game you can change it or click the big E bottom right...There you can change the ball to BIG and tracer to solid. I just make the ball BIG and looks more real to me.

The demo convinced me as well. I feel like the graphics and putting (greens and showing break etc) not "as good" as TGC. However, everything else is better including:
1) the Range / Practice facility
2) Range data consolidation
3) overall platform ease of use
4) Multiple tee boxes
5) proper water hazard drops
6) proper handicap application to pops
7) all the games ( match play, scrambles, wolf)
8) mouse does it all platform

..... just a lot of well thought out features. I bought all 87 courses

I think I am the only person who likes the graphics better in e6 than TGC - based on posts here and reviews. I like the fact in e6 you can see the mowing lines in the fairways, the clouds move, etc. Also seems brighter. All 87 courses - on the course pack 1 there is a course named covered bridge. This is my home course. This will be the next course pack I will purchase. My plan now is to play each course and when I have 2 left will order the next course pack.

Match play is really fun. Did you know you can pick which holes to play and in which order?

Nope, I like the graphics better on e6 too. A big thing for me too is background. Tgc is limited on background and does not capture that for instance a course like superstition mountain. It also is not limited to the small selection of objects and even the houses are more realistic. It feels much more like real golf. One thing I seem to go against the consensus though is putting. I think it is much better than tgc.

I love the graphics on E6. The colors pop and the brightness is more consistent than that on TGC. I have both, love both, but E6 is the best in my opinion. The courses all look like the designers put great effort into replicating them and playing on the courses just feels right. Also, the options are top notch! The Golf Club is great, but searching for a course can be cumbersome and the courses all vary depending on designer. For all those on the fence, just download the demo and give it a try!

No worries col forbin (cpt BH), E6 is awesome but that purchase will have to wait. Guess I will go home and play Augusta or Sawgrass...maybe both!

Trugolf pops on the the forum every so often to answer questions. I'll bump this thread to put it to the top. If still no response, call tech support and ask them the questions you had above. The support number is on the main webpage. They are always very friendly, super helpful, and looking for feedback. Also, they can probably tell you the exact answers to your questions instead of members on the forum, like me, going off speculation.

Trip, I believe you had two questions. The first being, how to change the SkyTrak mode to putting when you're not on the green. There should be a club select on the screen, when you select "putter" it should put the skytrak into putting mode. If it doesn't work that way, then we weren't given the right access to the device. We do the same thing for Trackman and ES16.

I'm reporting your note about auto scoring from the bunker instead of the green, thanks for letting us know!

I think the ball view has been covered here. The best thing you can do is change the ball size to large, the comet size will increase as well.

cool about the putting...will have to check it out = just shut everything off. I agree with e6 making the ball large and TV view or ball view is best. I like the ball view because in the main screen you see your ball as in real life and then in the upper right of the screen you see birds eye view.

I prefer to see a full tracer so I can see the shape of the shot. The solid tracer in E6 is an eyesore. Making the ball bigger does make it visible but it looks ridiculous.

The skytrak has three modes, normal, putting, and short game. JNPG recently implemented the short game mode and it's made a big difference.

In most other respects E6 is the best golf game I've played. My annual renewal is up shortly and I'm very tempted to switch to E6. I might wait and see what the new engine brings.

Just wanted to add I have had e6 for a few days now and love it. Playing the palmer course and I feel like I am there. We are all different but I love the big ball...but hey if you are not comfortable with it - I can understand. The only thing I wish e6 had was the ability to have ghost players like TGC. But lucky for me now have both software.

The only thing I have noticed that I dont like with e6 is the view for chipping. I have, say a 20 foot chip and I can only see the few feet around the hole. Pitching and long putts I can see the whole view. Anybody else have this issue and found a solution? Trugolf, if you're following, anything I can do about this or is a solution coming?
