  • Anyone else ready to move on from TGC2019?

Anyone else kind of done with TGC2019?

Same bugs as a year ago, really awful UI and options.

I host a weekly golf league at home and constant bugs and issues are becoming too much to make it work. Ready to move on to E6 or anything else.

Got a few rounds in on 19 in the spring. In Michigan, so when it's summer, I'm playing outside if I get the chance to play.

My opinion - I was pretty disappointed back then, especially after they alpha/beta tested. Was thinking stuff would have been fixed by now for my 5 months of winter garage golf, but by the sounds of it, nothing has changed. That sucks.

I'll give 19 some chances here soon and see if I can get used to it, but I thought OG TGC was pretty solid, mechanically, and hoped 19 would be fixed by now.

I have a question for those that have played E6 and TGC2019. My buddy and I were playing a round on the demo on E6 last night and he remarked that the spin that I was getting was absurdly high and unrealistic... I would agree as well. I've never experienced anything like that IRL. Is TGC just as bad? I am interested because, basically, I'm spinning back 9 Irons from 135 yards fairway or tee lies back about 10 feet. On a 60* I'm able to spin a 35 yard shot even more !

I haven't played the e6 connect demo, but from the videos I've seen the bounce/spin on the greens doesn't look accurate at all as you have said. Reminds me of the spin doctor. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j5u6...ature=emb_logo

the original TGC spins, the new one hardly at all. E6 looks like the spin is highly unrealistic

I've never really played the original TGC, but I feel like the spin in TGC2019 is pretty realistic. Not perfect, but pretty good.

The spin is ok I guess, the bounce of 3 yards on every shot that hits the green is not..
Original TGC I'd have wedges spinning back 30 feet which Is not realistic for me that's for sure.

This is good to know. I just couldnt get over the spin... Even when I set the greens to Hard and fast, they would spin just sooooo much

Lack of spin on greens is a bummer at times...again, we're all proud of out set ups and when they guys are over...hit a nice 60 degree in from 50 years and stick it to have it bounce off - they give you that look...

the best feature for me in tgc2019 and tgc is the ghost player option...I generally play alone and this feature is great. Now the first year I had e6 and I would say that software just works...but it is also way more expensive so it should be better right? sticking with TGC2019 - found about 4 courses I really like.

Yes. That’s a great feature. I love match play against a ghost. You can pick a score to play against but there is the unknown when it’s match play. My brother and I play alternate shot against a ghost. Great fun!

Figure I should elaborate a bit on my original post, better to be constructive if anyone that can actually change any of these things is watching

I live in Seattle, we have moderate winters, but if you can stand a little light rain, you can golf nearly year round (with the rare frost delay). I built my simulator 1. to host a winter golf league during the crappy months and 2. work on my game by myself. I rarely (seriously) will play TGC/TGC2019 solo. If i'm hitting on my own, it's usually just on the skytrak range and doing drills. So yes, a majority of my gripes about the bugs are specific to multi-player issues. I've attempted to list them in the order of how frustrating they are. If anyone reading this knows a better way to resolve some of these bugs i'm all ears!

To set the stage, I usually have 8-10 people every other week for my golf league. We play 9 hole stroke play with a modified league only handicap system to determine a weekly winner and then there's a end of season 9 hole match play double elimination tournament. For the sake of everyone's time, it's more of an open house start/end time. People can come and go anytime between 6pm and 10pm. First two to show up are the first two to play. 9 holes for each 2-some is usually ~ 45 minutes (have putting set to 2-putt on the green and 6ft 1-putt gimmes for the sake of time). Usually people hang out and BS before/after they play or even stay the whole time. We used to play as groups of 3-4 at a time, but the bugs made it nearly unplayable.

          1. Disconnect issue- you're mid-round and have multiple players, loses connectivity and quits on you. To fix it, you have to back out to the main menu. If you "continue match" it starts you in the proper spot on the proper hole, but defaults to single player with no guests. You then have to start completely over, manually add each guest, then "concede hole" one at a time until you get back to the hole where it crapped out on you (why is there no option to just select which hole to start on?!). Even worse, your scorecard from before is erased, we now keep a separate "live leaderboard" on a white board with magnetic strips because of this issue.

          2. Rewind shot (glitch or bug, or someone playing the wrong ball creates the need to rewind)- Simply doesn't work in multi-player. It jumps to the wrong player, wrong hole, goes back 3 shots. Totally broken. To fix you usually have to go through the process outlined above.

          3. Low ball flight/angled lie- Hitting a great punch or low 3-wood off the deck should not go 20 yds.

          4. Run out on the green on wedges and approach shots- I have pretty good ball height/speed/spin with my short irons and wedges. I have never had a ball run out any less than 20ft from 100yds on TGC2019. Spin needs to be better.

          5. High first bounce- This one doesn't bother me as much as others, it's definitely frustrating on low trajectory shots that should run out more.

          6. Radar on mini map defaults in a direction you aren't aiming/facing- This is almost always wrong until you actually click on the mini-map to adjust your target.

(These below are less 'bugs' and more crappy UI or features that should exist)

          7. Auto-Rewind shot doesn't show ball data/results- Want to just set up on a par-3 with auto-rewind turned on for a closest to the pin contest? Sorry, we won't tell you how from the pin your shots finish.

          8. Can't drop ball where-ever you like- Similar to above, would be great if you could just drop the ball by clicking the mini map and play from there.

          9. Can't select a starting hole other than front/back- Not even a closest to the pin contest option here. Would be great if i could start on the hole that i got kicked off of from an earlier bug.

2- when rewinding shot you got to wait for that person shot again then rewind, don’t do it on the very next shot as that will rewind that person shot. By doing that I’ve never had a issue on multi player

Like they said, the rewind you have to wait for your shot to rewind. I play as you do a couple times a week this really messes with us. It took some for everyone to remember to wait there turn again before rewinding.

With the connection thing you just have to get to the desktop and get it reconnected. I have some nights it only disconnects once or twice at the start and never again and some nights its almost unbearable. If the skytrak suddenly turns red then its better because you can usually pull up TGC in sys tray and hit reconnect. But if the unit says connected but its not then you probably have to turn Skytrak off and unconnect the wifi and reconnect and then tell the interface to connect again. I have never had to kill my round though, But if you play with a opposite handed player as my friend is left handed and this happens while on ship or put 9 out of ten times he will have to hit the next shot right handed. (good for me bad for him)

Have any of you experienced a bug where either every other shot is totally wrong (think chips goin 200 yds) or every other hole literally won't pick up your shot at all? My TGC19 has been doing this for the last few days and its absurdly annoying.

        • #23
7, 8, 9 will not likely ever happen. I’d say never but I never say that. 5 happens in the video game version so I doubt it. For 4 adjust spin and and just green speed and firmness. Slower greens and softer greens mean less. It defaults to fast and firm. You need to set it on every round. For 3 the ball hit the ground in front. Hit is higher or hit a higher club. 2 was answered and 1 is a skytrak issue.

I don't know about adjusting spin just for Skytrak but the adjustments are in the settings file. They include green speed and firmness as well as boost. On GC2 and ProTee there are a lot more adjustments available.

I would love to see some more competition in this space. I can't believe no one has made a party style game like top golf already for groups. Sounds like a business opportunity to me.

For the price of this software I do agree they should provide better and more frequent updates.

Amazed still at how good things are that are good in the game. However progressively dismayed that things are not fixed and upgraded per almost all of what's been enumerated above and all year. For example, I mean just one cheap wish is being able to place a stroke limit on a hole. That's easy coding. That's not recreating the physics on the high bounce problem , but alas, Concession is now that it's not going to improve in the desired ways prob ever.

So i hate to be the guy that shows up and just drinks the beer and leaves, but if anyone here is actually pissed enough to sell me their license for tgc 2019, please, let me know. I am just trying to jump on the bandwagon at less than 900 bucks. It’s taken me a while to build a sim for my kids and I, and this is the final piece. Just hard to pull the trigger on 1k for software.

alright so if i understand correctly, you cannot purchase a lifetime membership from another skytrak user and then use that license on your own skytrak. you could only buy the license and use it on a different launch monitor (not a skytrak). is that right? if so, that's a real bummer.

When playing stroke play in tgc2019 can one player quit and the remaining players continue? If so how do you do that?

The person in the first position is the only person that can continue playing. Maybe there's another way I haven't seen but you would quit the game and then come back and continuing the round and only the person who is in the first slot will be left.

After getting some rounds under my belt I will say that this thing is a blast. Not being able to stop it on the greens is prolly the most frustrating issue. My ball never releases like this. That being said, I can get used to it and try to play it. The second is that first bounce, I like to hit a piercing flight driving iron off shorter holes and that first bounce annoys me. And there is 100% a draw tendency to my setup, either the skytrak reads it wrong or I have it setup incorrectly, but it over draws for me consistently. But for a game I can play in my garage, I freaking love this thing!

Yeah, all of it. Good times. I hit a great laser low stinger when under trouble, that bounce practically negates it as a recovery weapon.

              Quick updates-
Purchased the full E6 Connect annual license when it was first released (~6 weeks ago?). So far I haven’t fired up TGC2019 since. There’s some features of TGC I miss, but overall, E6 just works and their ball physics seem much more realistic.

Even more impressed by their response to customer inquiries and have already seen updates to their product to add features and resolve bugs.

I hope to see TGC2019 push an update to fix its flaws so it’s relevant (for me) again, but this post doesn’t give me much hope.

Are you planning on fixing any of the many bugs in the 2019 sim that weren't there in the original TGC sim software? Or is it just been abandoned? The "E" key with the "V" to change views doesn't work anymore, there is a weird high bounce if you hit a low shot, the "C" (formerly "F"
