Z is right 7200 card will not run dx11, your just going to get a pink screen running TGC. That puter also probably has only 350 watts powers supply, you will need 600 to run dx11 capable cards.

I'm on tapatalk- ok, the card is the GeForce GT720 with 1GB DDR3 memory, is that too slow? I saw some ratings on Gaming sites for the card, showing frame rates, etc. I think it's made for gaming, People buy this Dell (XPS 8700) for gaming. I did see some complaining about the power supply - so maybe have to replace it... to get a higher wattage to run another graphics card. I need the CPU Horsepower for my work, so don't mind going overboard on that. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Yes, that still way too slow. It's definitely not made for gaming. Well, maybe good Solitaire or Minesweeper, but that's about it.

Craig, Zmax, how about the GTX660 (is that similar - or close to same as GTX670)? See this review comment I found on the Dell website:
          --
I purchased the XPS 8700 with 16 gigs of ram, 2tb harddrive, the i7, and the GTX 645. I switched out the OEM GTX 645 with an ASUS GTX 660 OC edition once the computer arrived. I can play battlefield 3 on ultra with no problem. The ASUS 660 is a large card, but I was able to squeeze it in the case. The computer runs great, and stays cool. Very good computer for the price, and can be easily modified into a gaming computer for budget gamers. It would be very difficult to build a better computer for the same price (despite what every nerd on the internet will tell you).
          --

So, apparently, the power supply is good, I can't locate the info on it.. it's supposed to be delivered tomorrow, so hopefully the manuals will be included... anyway, the only reason I ask about GTX660 - compared to GTX670 is that it seems it's a real tight fit into the case... so I don't want to end up with the 670 and find out it's 1 mm to big!

Just also found this on Amazon - will this work: EVGA GeForce GTX 750Ti Superclock w/G-SYNC Support 2GB GDDR5 128bit, Dual-Link DVI-I, HDMI, DP 1.2 Graphics Card...

          $139

          Thanks,
          -Brett

Brett, use this site to compare video cards: http://www.hwcompare.com/17306/gefor...force-gtx-670/

The answer is no for the 750ti. GTX 660 will be fine but you might have to use medium settings and maybe turn object detail down also. Do you have the ProTee or HQ screen? Do you want to run the game in high settings? IMO, find a GTX670 that will fit.

As for the power supply, get a 750W. I don't care what anybody says. I've been building computers for 25 years now.

FYI, with NVIDIA cards it the second number that makes the difference. For instance - 660 ok, 670 better, 680 freaking fast, 690 OMG!!!! The more RAM the better

I'm not sure where you find that, where is the second number? These GeForce cards are NVIDIA, correct? I asked about the 750 and it's too slow, but the 660 or 670 is fine?

The nice thing about this Dell 8700 is that it comes with Win 7 Professional which supports up to 32 GB of RAM on this computer, as I'm always adding RAM to max out my performance, I get the feeling I'll be doing that with this as well, over time... It comes stock with 8GB (2 of 4 slots filled with 4GB each), which I can then easily add 8GB more too, taking it to 16GB right away. if I want to go 32 GB I'll have to add 8GB chips in all 4 slots, so I'll probably hold off on that for a while.

I had no idea the graphics cards have that much control over the game performance... but if I have to upgrade I will, I'd like to design some courses, and play them in TGC game, before I finally get a chance to get my Simulator up, which may end up being next year if I can't get my budget growing, which it's not doing at the moment.

He means the second number in the name of the card. In GTX 750, 5 is the second number. In GTX 660, 6 is the second number. So, GTX 660 is indeed better than the 750. Take a look at this link:

Perfect, I've got it now - so I should really buy a 680, instead of a 670 - that should be plenty of graphics performance... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Price dropped in the last few weeks so that's why I upgraded, this card will let you run 4K if you want to hit into a net and watch on your TV.
