How about one of these to run protee TGC. My search on the video card compared it to GTX 860.

chris copeland What would a comparable video card to the alienware alpha. Looking to set up a golf simulator in my house and the software is pretty demanding.
10:33:46 AM chris copeland There reall isn't any specifics as to what it does/performs.
10:34:40 AM TIP_Paulo M Let me check here Chris
10:36:49 AM TIP_Paulo M Give me a minute or two please
      10:36:56 AM chris copeland NP
10:38:35 AM TIP_Paulo M It is comparable to the AMD Radeon 270 Video card
10:39:32 AM chris copeland Same card in all versions?
      10:40:04 AM TIP_Paulo M Yes Chris
      10:40:15 AM chris copeland Thanks
10:40:59 AM TIP_Paulo M It's my goal today to provide you with excellent customer service. Was there anything else I could've done differently to better your experience with us or is there anything else that I could assist you with today?
10:41:33 AM chris copeland Is there a slot to add another card?

Not sure this is the right topic post.....

I'm curious as to what video specs people are setting the game at and what results. I have tried a number and seemed to get flickering trees. My video card is NVidia GTX 780Ti 3Gb I would assume I could max out setting pretty good. Currently I am at medium at game start and 4 detail level and 1000, 1000 for tree detail and distance. When playing games I seem to start getting lag as the game progresses and effect on ball launch after strike. My projector and touch screen is xga resolution (1024x768 4:3)
What do others have for video card and display devices? Anyone else seeing tree flicker?

You tree and distance settings are too high. Set them back to default at around 315 and 300 I believe. Set object to 3. Since your projector is limited to 1024X768, you should set TGC to run at 1024X768. No point in running it higher than that.

You should be able to run TGC on high detail at 1024X768 with object at 3 or 4 but keep trees and distance at default.

From what I understand back when I bought a new 1080 TV, there's very little difference between 720 and 1080, barely noticeable, is it because the image is projected that it is noticeable and a problem?

Can you snap photos showing me the difference? Saving 1/2 is quite a big deal for me.

                  Thanks,

On a 40" tv, you probably won't see any difference. On a 55" tv, I can certainly see a difference. Seating distance and eyesight quality will also determine if people can see a difference. Here's a good example. Compare Fox's 720 HD football with CBS or NBC's 1080 HD football on a 55" tv or bigger from 10-12ft away. You should be able to see a difference.

Same concept on a 10ft wide impact screen. But it needs to be a high quality screen such as the ProTee or Par2pro's HQ screen. If you're using a PR-20 screen, you should just run at 720.

Also, if you want to save money and use a 720p projector, then run TGC at 1280X720 at high settings and you can probably get by with a cheaper video card. No need to run at 1080 as it will be downsampled to 720p anyway.

And keep in mind if you plan on using the sim room to watch HD movies, you'll want to get a 1080p projector.

Seems like the screen may be your limiting reagent when it comes to resolution. Be honest, is there a SIGNIFICANT difference in picure quality when using an impact screen at 1280X720, 720p, 1080, 4k? I am using Corey's HQ impact screen at 8x10.

I have gone from 720 to 1080 last 2 months and have noticed a big difference. I wont be liking back from 1080. As Zmax says will let you know about 4k once we win the lottery or a few years once the price goes down and there are 8k projectors available.

Guys need some advice. I'm trying to get the most out of TGC with what i have but, I have to design on a budget given my wifes lack of understanding of the importance of golf simulation. I'd like to get up to 1080p with graphics at 5 and full trees. This is what I'm working with:
                        Dell XPS630i
                        IntelCore 2 Quad 6600q at 2.4Ghz
                        64 bit
                        Windows 7.0
                        4 GB Ram
                        NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660,
Total available graphics memory 3838 MB
                        Dedicated graphics memory 2048 MB
                        Dedicated system memory 0 MB
                        Shared system memory 1790 MB
So first I found somone willing to sell their ECS H61H2-M3 motherboard, 8gb of 1333 DDR3 RAM and Intel i7 2600 3.4Ghz Native and 3.8 Ghz Turbo for $250. Is this a good deal? Should I upgrade?

With this upgrade can I max the graphics for TGC or do I still need to upgrade a new graphics card? if so which graphics card is advised to meet requirements?

Or should I not up grade at all and run the same system and buy the best graphics card I can afford?

By full trees, do you mean max detail tree's and tree draw distance of 1000?

If so, you'd need top of the line everything across the board, which would probably be $2k+?

There's really no point in having the software draw the max detail trees at that distance, but if you want it you can have it for $$$$.

I agree. No need to run at 1000 trees. Leave that at default of 300 or so. And no need to set object to 5. You won't be able tell much difference between 3, 4, and 5. 3 is good. The i7 is a good CPU but you need to upgrade the video. Go with GTX 770 at minimum.

Take look at the 970 as well as the pricing is the same or near as the 770 and the 970 will be better bang for the buck.

Ok I leve the trees alone and setting at 3. Is my processor and ram good as is if I located Gtx 780ti. Or will fps still suffer?
