  • Is this PC strong enough?

i have the opportunity to buy the PC below for a good price. Would this work? I know I need to upgrade the graphics card. Plan to run FSX and TGC 2019. Specs:

    CPU: Intel Core i7 4770k
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper TX4
    RAM: 8GB of DDR3
Graphic Card: 3 GB EVGA NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760
    Optical Drives: ASUS DRW-24F1ST
    1 TB HDD

That graphics card (and CPU) is from 2013. I doubt it will be able to run TGC2019 reliably. It's significantly slower than the GTX1060 which is the minimum recommended graphics card.

Still no even if I upgrade the card?

It probably would be I would think. The processor is a bit old too but is still a pretty fast one and processors are usually not the bottleneck. You're probably looking at around $150-200 for a 1060 (or 1660) so you'd have to decide whether it's worth it to put the extra money into an older PC just to meet the minimum requirements. If you're not in a hurry and keep an eye out you can find new PCs with 1060s (or even 1660s) on sale for around $600.

I keep an eye on https://slickdeals.net/ for great deals on computers. A lot of them are from Newegg, but sometimes they might be manufacturer direct or somewhere else.

It should work. Will you be running 720p or 1080p? I used a GTX750ti for a while with a Optoma GT760A (720p). It worked fine for TGC, E6, and CG3D. I upgraded to GTX1060 when I moved to a 1080p projector. And the processor is fine, too.

I can't see TGC2019 Running smoothly on that GPU. Even if you upgraded the computer to a higher-end GPU, you might cap out what the MOBO can provide for power/power supply. While it will be servicable, I really can't recommend using those specs at 1080p.
