    Gaming Laptop

    I’ve been keeping an eye on gaming laptop prices as I’ve been debating buying one. Not super knowledgeable about computers so just wanted to check with you guys. I saw this Acer gaming laptop with a Rtx 2060 and I5 for $790. Seemed like a really good deal relative to other prices I had seen. Am I missing something or have prices just started to come down with the new line of GPUs?

      It will work. The cpu is i5 9300h and here is a comparison to what I am running i7 3770. Pretty close. The gpu 2060 is excellent.

      On the gaming laptop or any pc in general, you have to watch out for cooling. If it has bad thermals, it will throttle down your performance.

              TGC2019 Recommend Specs:

              Windows 10 64-Bit - Doesn't specify 32 v 64 bit
              i7 @ 3.20 GHz - Conflicting Info in listing. Specs say 2.4 GHz UP TO 4.1 GHz. Unsure how important the i5 v i7 element is compared to the speed listed.
              8 GB Ram - Exceeds
              GTX 1060 - Exceeds
              Hardrive 30 GB - Exceeds

                  Not a big fan of gaming laptops..only so much of a video card can you get in there producing all that heat. You can great pre-builds at Costco that work well enough as an example with room to grow. I added a 24” touchscreen monitor in my setup as well

                      Agreed - most people don't realize the difference between Notebooks and Desktops.
                      From a Benchmark web site:
                      mobile 2060 does the same performance as desktop GTX 1660, but can run ray tracing games at 30-40 fps [Sep '19 Viper207]

                      Having said that, it always depends on what you are trying to do - frame rate, details, projector.... and so on. That laptop maybe more than enough to meet your needs.

                      Regarding gaming laptops (and I realize this is slightly off topic), is it possible to have an output to a projector, and also use a TV? I would like to project TGC2019 or the range software to the hitting screen, and also take advantage of a flat screen mounted nearby. Is that possible? Maybe via an AirPlay type connection?

                          You’d have to see if the laptop has an hdmi or two, or hdmi and dvi. My desktop card is a 980ti older card but has one hdmi and two dvi. I got a dvi/hdmi adapter to do the same thing your asking..
