First timer new build for only TGC 2019 usage: Need opinion please

Making a computer build ONLY to use for TGC in my garage. Computer will have basically no other function.

What do you think of the following (In CAD$)

• CPU: intel i5-9400 --- $199
• MOBO: MSI Z390 A PRO -- $119.99
• Memory: Team T-Force Vulcan Z (2x8 GB) DDR 3200 -- $119
• Storage: Western Digital 500GB SSD M.2. 2280 -- $70
• Video Card: GeForce GTX 1660 Super -- $320
• Case: NZXT H510 ATX Mid Tower Case -- $85
• Power Supply: EVGA BR 600 W 80+ Bronze -- $70
• Wireless Adapter: TP-Link PCI -- $17

Total Cost = $981.90 CAD

I know my CPU is an older version relative to the rest, but my understanding is that CPU speed doesn't need to be super advanced for TGC and future upgrades.

My goal is for this computer to be good for TGC 2019 and the next upgrade if it comes in 2-3 years.

First time in my life I am looking to build so any feedback is appreciated. Also any feedback in terms of components that might be hard to connect that would be helpful.

This build looks just fine to me. You may want to wait just a bit until the new cards have availability. The 1660 will likely go lower.

With the prices you are quoting, it looks like you are in Canada. You can also get the core i5 9500 for the same price as the 9400. Alternatively, the core i5 10400 is only $239 (appreciate this might be a good option as I suspect the Motherboards for this card may also be more pricey). All prices taken from Memory Express website.

I thought I had read i5 was a no go, can someone confirm or dispel?

Intel I5 is fine for TGC 2019, I have it. That chip has gone through many generations (updates) and is up to gen. 10 right now. It has significant power, and is comparable to earlier generation i7s.
