  • NVIDIA 2080 Super-MaxQ

    Hi all,

Can anyone provide instruction on how to optimize my video card? I think I'm having a problem with TGC2019 and the GPU. The problem could be that the software is using the onboard Intel GPU instead. It could also be that the GPU does not have the right settings for the card to make the most of TGC.

I also run a picture in picture so I can watch sports while I practice and that seems to freeze a lot as well. I have 16GB of RAM, as well as 8GB on the NVIDIA.

    Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

Interesting question .... my gut tells me that if it were using the onboard Intel the game wouldn't run at all. I have noticed on occasion that when I start up my computer to play I will see a brief popup message in the corner about the NVIDIA card not being recognized or something to that effect. I'll try to pay closer attention to exactly what it says the next time it happens. But it's never led to any difference in performance or graphics. Everything seems the same whether that message pops up or not. I've never even thought too much about it.

I'll be interested to see what others say because now you have me thinking about this lol.

What are you seeing happening? Stuttering or complete freezes?

When I open up OnTopReplica, after TGC is running, I can fill the window with content, and as long as I'm on the web browser, everything works fine. However, as soon as I tab back to TGC2019, the window freezes, and the sound continues. TGC seems to operate the same, although slightly degraded. I would have thought that with double the suggested RAM and GPU, this would not be a problem.

In the past, I've had the computer not recognize the NVIDIA GPU which is why I'm wondering. In that vein, I wonder if the Intel GPU can run the OTR and NVIDIA run TGC2019 and everything is good?

When you launch Task Manager, it will tell you GPU is being used per application. Verify that the 2080 is being used for TGC. You can change it within the NVidia Control panel if necessary.

Not sure if a laptop is the same, but on a desktop make sure you are plugged into the GPU ports and not the ports for the motherboard.

        This might help.

All of a sudden, I had the same issue with ontopreplica, video freezes but sound still works. Haven’t used it in a while, definitely worked before without issue

wbond Do you think the browsers or apps have changed their code to not allow it? Or perhaps something in Windows 10? I need to try these suggestions from last night, but if you're seeing the same thing as a new issue, perhaps it is not my GPU.

Update: I assigned OTR and TGC to the NVIDIA card, and had no success with OTR working as it used to. Interestingly, the Chrome PIP plug in works just fine. I wonder if there is a new issue with OTR. As far as I know, OTR is the only software that will allow you to watch things in other video player windows on top (like the DirecTV viewer). If anyone has another product, please let us know.

Has anyone tried any of these alternatives? https://alternativeto.net/software/ontopreplica/
