    11/28/14 Update:

    Here's my new build:

    i7 4790k @ 4.0ghz = $250
    Asus Z97-AR = $80
    8 GB GSkills DDR3 2133 = $55
    PNY 120GB SSD Sata III = $50
Sata DVD optical drive = $20
    Maxtor 500GB HD = $40
    Corsair GC800w PS = $80
ATX full tower case = $50
    Galaxy GTX 670 2GB = $120 (bought used a year ago for $200)
    MSI GTX 670 2GB = $120 (bought used 2 weeks ago)
    Windows 8.1 = $120

    Total = $985

Most of these parts I already had but figured I would list what the whole thing would cost if built from scratch. Btw, I got SLI to work after a little trick I found on Steam forum. I'm now running TGC on high with object at 5 at 1920X1080p. Getting between 40-50 fps on Pinehurst #2. I don't see any stutter yet. CPU and graphics cards are running at stock speeds. The i7 is very fast. Looks like the two GTX 670's are still a bottleneck.

    My previous build December 2013:

    AMD FX 6300 6 cores, 3.5ghz OC to 3.8ghz $80 used
Asus M5A97 R2.0 ATX AM3+ with serial header and Crossfire capable $60 used
    8GB DDR3 1600 RAM $70 new
    Windows 8.1 64bit $115 new
    120GB SSD C: drive $80 new
    500GB 7200 rpm sec drive $60 new
    Nvidia GTX 670 2GB $200 used
    800w PS $120
    Full ATX Case $80

    Total = $865

The combination of the FX 6300 and GTX 670 should be able to do what I want and then some. Can throw in another GTX 670 for SLI if needed in the future.

UPDATE: the M5A97 R2.0 motherboard above does not support SLI, only Crossfire.

Edit: Changed my mind and decided to go with Windows 8.1 64 bit. After installing Classic Shell, I was able to make it look just like Windows 7. Works great so far.

Yup, I should have it all up and running by end of the week. Hope Protee will be around to provide me with a new license and activation code.

I recently installed a Geforce 660 with 2gb of ram on board. I played Augusta at maximum video and it did play smoothly. However I was noticing these huge white ball like streaks throughout the air. Do you know what this is. I have noticed this in the past. I was thinking that this graphics card should have no problem at max settings. Is it possibly my Computer Ram installed is not enough?? I currently have 4 out of 8 gigs.

Did you install the latest Nvidia driver and then run DXsetup?

            4GB is enough.

I don't recall ever seeing that at Augusta. The other courses are OK?

Why kind of power supply does it have? Brand and wattage?

I went into the Nvidia settings and made one change. Now it works well, mo more streaks.

                        Which setting did you change?

Btw, I just finished building my new Sim PC. Decided on windows 8.

I knew you were going to ask me that. It was something to do about aliasing but not the standard aliasing. Its confusing but since you own a Geforce and probably have that same settings program, it was the fist one that talks about aliasing.

I have Windows 8 on my laptop and I do not like it. I have Windows 7 on the desktop for golf.

Windows 8.1 is looks pretty good so far. I had to install Classic Shell to get the Windows 7 look and feel. Once I did that, it was a easy find what I was looking for. I don't have to use that Metro tablet style interface at all.

I hate that metro style. Where did you find the classic interface?
