  • Supertex complete set up

I was all set to start building a frame myself until I came across this. I was going to go with a Carl's preferred screen and make my own frame from 1in EMT. I was stressing a bit about what to use for side panels to not have it look bad.

Has as anyone purchased a complete screen setup like this before? If so, what was the quality? I realize I need to supply the poles but the price seems fairly reasonable. I just want to make sure it isn't junk.

Any opinions welcome (disregard the optishot part. I'm just talking about the enclosure)

    Thanks

I would love to talk to someone who has it just to see the quality. I was about to buy a $390 screen from Carl's and have to build my own enclosure. This would cost much less but with that lower price I'm curious about the quality.

I have the screen and I think it's definitely one that I'd buy again. I am having a little trouble getting the waves out but that's more of a tethering issue I think. Clarity of the screen to me is spot on. I've not seen the higher end screens so I guess I don't have a lot to compare to.

Yea they are solid for the price, picture was good. Mine didn't last me long though, under 6 months, but I do have a fairly high ball speed (mid 160s) and use pro v1s. So im sure that didn't help.

But I will say that once you go to the high end premium screens youll never go back. They are thick so you don't have to worry about the waves really too. The weight of the screen itself doesn't let it bundle up much at all. I got lucky and got a remnants screen of Carl's premium that was still almost perfect for a fraction of the price and love it! Ill be jumping on dbgolf72 's screens for sure as I think they are very similar for factory prices. Plus sounds like he is making improvements and basically designing his own to make it even better than the others. Very cool stuff.

What is the price of his screens for an 11x9?

The remnant screen I got was around 250-300 I believe and the only one they had left at the time was a 10x9. Not sure if they still have any remnants at the discounted price but the actual screen itself I think it's in the 500-700+ range. A crazy amount more, but I think it's worth it.

Even better idea is to go with dbgolf's screens though, looks like pretty much the same thing based off pictures I've seen, and at the remnant prices if not less to boot. I'm gonna order one from him as a backup to mine. Haven't seen much wear on mine the last 6+ months though so far

I ordered one. When I get it set up I will let you know. Also, it did take a day or two, but they did contact me back and there was a coupon for 30% off as well (SCREEN30) making it very reasonable.

I have it setup, mostly, need to make some adjustments and it's loud. The screen came with no holes cut for the straps, it uses some straps to wrap around the frame for tightening and loosening. The guy did call and follow up when I left him messages, or emails, it was usually the next day. Took about a week for shipping from NC. I might need to upgrade my projector as it's a bit older and only rated for 1000 lumens. Older Panasonic PTAE900U, but it looks ok in the dark. Here are some pictures.

No. I had to buy 13 - 10 foot 3/4 inch EMT conduit (about $4 a piece), 4 - 10 foot 3/4 inch PVC (price musta been about the same), and 14 - 6 foot 3/4 inch pipe insulation, although I have to return 4 of them that I didn't use (these were $5-$6 each). Kit came with screen, backing for the screen, all the corner pieces for the EMT, some straps, bungee cords, piece of Velcro, nylon zip ties (which I needed a few more, and had to buy some hacksaw blades) and some pretty generic instructions, had to try and figure some things out for my own. It did take me 5 hours to put it up, but if you have someone helping, it would be much faster and easier, and if I had to do it again, I think it could be done in about half the time.

So what kind of bounce back does this system have?
