Has anyone taking pillow stuffing or something similar and made a long bottom pipe protector? I've tried a couple solutions but none are working out.

Hey eezetee, I may not understand your setup, but why not just eliminate the bottom pipe? Can you use emt footpads like these and eliminate your bottom pipe?

I use these and only have a top pipe which my screen hangs on....the screen, blankets and tarp just hang loose at the bottom and works fine. \

Hi Gene.

Thanks for the note. I wish I could use those EMT footpads. I designed my screen to be able to roll because I covered one of the room exists to maximize space.

i have a bottom pipe in my setup so that the screen can be pulled up into the ceiling. i put a piece of foam board across the pipe angled up like a ramp. my screen has a little extra length so it lays on the floor and covers the ramp. if the ball hits the foam board, it bounces up into the screen. if the ball does come back at me, it's going about the speed of an easy toss. i put packing tape all over the foam board because it will crack and fall apart otherwise. i suppose you could make a ramp out of something else but i had exra foam board laying around and it seems to work well.

I was looking at that for ideas. However, at $80 and not covered my entire screen, it'll be an expensive option. Good idea and I think I may be able to make something using this design

Significantly cheaper option. Use above ground pool cove. $5 for 4' section

How much room do you have between your screen and the wall?

Currently my screen is 6 inches from the back all, and when I hit a driver and flys back at me like a rocket. Because it's hitting the wall behind it.

I've got some moving blankets on order. Seems they are the preferred method to layer background protection.

cooke23 I installed the wedges that wbond found and they work great. depending on how low you hit the ball, you can still bonk yourself on the head if you're not looking but you wont' die. yesterday I hit one off of the top of the wedge and it came back at me slow enough to where could reach out and catch it.

I tried these and they don't slow the ball down enough. I purposely hit half-speed 2 irons into these and the bounce back could have caused some serious injury. Full driver rebounds off of these pads would really be a problem. I presently use 3 inch memory foam bed toppers which I cut into strips and attach carpet strips over them and they work fine but the memory foam is tedious to cut. I am developing a commercial golf package and was looking for an easier option for rebound protection for my hitting cage.

what do you have going across the bottom? I have 1" emt conduit. here's a couple of videos of what happens when I hit a ball into the wede/pad. the first ball goes off of the wedge and then up into the screen and comes back at me. the second ball hits lower and shoots higher into my top netting and then back over my head. the second ball was going faster than the first but i probably still could have caught it if i had any idea where it had gone.

Both of those look potentially dangerous, especially the second.

Wondering if some member foam cut and angled slightly upwards would help. I've got a few rolls of padding that i'm about to try this weekend, alongside moving blankets that I just lugged back from the US.

If the first one had hit me in the face, it'd probably be a bruise but no big deal. The ball wasn't moving that fast. The 2nd was definitely moving faster but if I install some baffles I shouldn't see anymore of those rebounds.

I'm going to try some rubber pipe insulation instead of the foam, seems more forgiving and less "bouncy" by just feel alone when I went to the hardware store. It'll be a few weeks before I'm able to test and update, waiting on a screen from the mill order!

I ended up ordering some nylon online and will trying to sew some absoring material around the frame of the screen.

Likely reporting back in a week or so. The frame is really dangerous and I haven't played a round of golf in a fews due to a recent "incident"
