  • Need a little help with layout!

I am looking to build my simulator in my 3rd car garage. This is the layout of the garage, and my plans. Just wondering with all of your experiences, do you think this layout is optimal? any suggestions or concerns?

I was planning on getting a net from west coast nets, going wall to wall. I was considering doing the net so that the right side could be moveable, and pulled out to 10' if i wanted or had a more novice golfer, or can just come out 3ft to be flush with the small wall out-jut.

Impact screen im still not too sure on what im going to do yet, still doing research on that.

Also was considering put some sort of seating and a table at the bottom, by the garage door. is there enough space to do this?

This forum has been a great resource, so just hoping to get a little feedback on my ideas, thanks!!!

Are you planning on hitting centered? It might feel cramped. I think you would have 5'8" from centerline to wall behind you. There are many options to fill the void on the sides, just make it black and it will look nice. I wouldn't do wood just in case a shot finds its way over there, it may come flying back.

Yes you will be off centred in 11' width so will have to make sure your projector isn't somewhere that will interfere with your swing.

Funnily enough in your plan plan you could still hit centred if you are left handed due to the opening in the right wall. If you are right handed could you reverse the screen to the bottom wall or is that door used?

As much as hitting center would be nice, I'm ok hitting off center. I really don't think it will mess with me at all. And the other side where garage door is, I plan on getting a screen system where I can open the garage door and use screen if I wanted.

With 10 foot ceilings, I think projector should be good! But I will take that into account!

What would be the best way to secure net, since I do plan on going wall to wall?

Also with Carl's premium screens, how does the raw material come? Is it just the screen with no where to attach? Could I add my own grommets?

        Thanks again!!

If you are going wall to wall with the net, I would get the rope bound net from west coast nets and attach it to slotted angle iron with zip ties. You can use tarp clips and zip ties/bungees to attach the raw screen. If you can get in on the direct from the mill screens, you will save yourself some money.

Is the the thread where the guy was buying from the mill, cutting it, then shipping it out? If so I did comment on there! Can the tarp clamps handle the abuse?

Tarp clips work well. I have the first screen from the mill and have used tarp clips since I've received it without issue.

So I've started my build and just have a few questions..

So I'm waiting on my impact screen to come in, but do have my net from West coast netting in and hung.

I was going to hang moving blankets as well, but I'm wondering if I should hang them behind my enclosure, or within my enclosure, then my impact screen ontop/infront of that?

              Thanks!

Kent - What do you mean by Rope bound net? What model net is that?

Here is a link to the net I use. It's inexpensive and does a good job. The rope is just an edge finish option. It's easy to zip tie to.

When hanging your impact screen, how do you guys do it? I feel like because of the net in the way,b I'll have to go through the net to connect to my frame, and it won't sit right or be tight enough?

I zip tied my net to my angle iron fairly tight. I then evenly spaced out my tarp clips on the top of the screen and attached them to the screen while the screen was on the ground. I used bungees to attach the top, but I used zip ties to attach the side. I don't have any wrinkles in my screen and it is tight enough and sits fine. I can take a close up pic tonight and post if it would help.
