  • Zip's Build

Since I'll be doing much more beyond just a screen, I'll use this new thread to document my entire room build from start to finish.

My screen area is framed 170 inches wide and 118 inches high. Along each vertical stud and along the bottom of the ceiling joist I secured 1-1/4 inch 14 gauge angle iron using 1-1/2 inch lag screws every 12 inches.

    I purchased a 10x10 golf net from http://www.ejourneytohealth.com/.

I hung it with a 24 inch bungee in each corner and three 48 inch bungees on each side. http://www.homedepot.com/p/Keeper-24...6023/203635138

It's stretched to 12 feet at the top and bottom. The sides hang much looser.

Optoma HD141x. It's mounted at 19-10. I'm currently about 10 ft from the screen and I have a shadow of the top of my head. I need to move back about a foot to have no shadow.

And thanks! Hope to have it painted and trimmed in the next month. Then carpet and the bar (in the little room to the right of the hitting mat.

That setup is looking real nice.

With the GC2, you are going to need those foam panels for wedges and flop shots.

I set up only 6 1/2 feet from my screen (about 80 inches) and my flop shots are hitting my overhead net. My screen height is only 8 feet tall and my PW will some times hit the bar I hang the screen on. So without the overhead net I would be in trouble hitting real balls. I also use a short throw projector so it sits on the floor just in front of my hitting platform.

That is going to be one busy room once you are set up.

can I ask what you are doing with the bottom of the screen? Is it simply hanging freely or secured to the flooring somehow to prevent balls from escaping underneath it?

At the moment it's hanging freely. And it's a little bit of a problem with the screen getting tangled in the net behind as well as an occasional ball getting under, usually a putt. I also don't like how it bunches/wrinkles near the corners. I need to secure that bottom strap somehow.

Anyone else have any input as how to secure the bottom of the screen to prevent balls from going underneath/behind it??

Let the net catch the balls. Fasten the net down with PVC pipe. The screen should be folded on the floor.
