I have space limitations inside so I can only hit my irons. I am thinking of building a frame with an impact screen outside to hit longer clubs when the weather cooperates. I can't build a full cage due to storage requirements when this is not in use but I am thinking of a flat screen straight on with a shank guard coming around on the right a few feet towards the golfer. I will still need to be pretty close to the screen (about 7 ft) so I don't want frame and netting on the left or up top as then my driver is likely to hit when I'm only 7 feet away.
1. What is the launch angle of a massive pop up drive? I will be hitting towards houses (either my own or neighbours) and I want to be certain someone can't pop it up over the screen. I'm less concerned about flop shots as they would have much less velocity, could be played with an Almost Golf Ball or frankly they can just be avoided if its a concern.
2. What's the highest feasible left horizontal launch angle? I have seen someone hit a ball between their own legs once but that wasn't moving fast enough to break anything. I'm trying to decide how far left I would need the screen to go to be safe. I have the Net Return mini in my house and I've never been anywhere near the left pole but I'm a decent golfer. Once I get outside I suspect friends will want to play who will be a bit more erratic.
I should note that I want to hit real golf balls. Theoretically I could give poor golfers Almost Golf Balls that I use for my daughter but it's not impossible in thousands of shots that I hit something awful. I can replace a window at someones house if I had to but I'm more worried the home owners association would find a way to ban me from playing at all if that occurs.
