  • Bungees vs wrap-around for your EMT cage?

I’m going to sim build v2.0 and am debating the merits of bungeeing my screen to the EMT poles vs wrapping the screen around the poles and using snap clamps (or similar). I’ve seen both here and would love some feedback.

    Pros/Cons of bungees:
-seems like the screen would last longer?
    -hangs nice
-needs side carpet runner or felt to cover bungees to look professional
-lose a little off maximum projection size (118”x88.5” for me)

    Pros/cons of wrapping around:
-seems like the screen would wear out faster with less give
-may have minor bunching at corners
-not as free-flowing at the bottom
-easier to get sides looking professional
-maximizes projection area (122”x91.5” for me)

Please let me know your thoughts or experiences.

While on my first sim build, I do have a friend who had one for several years before he moved. His first screen he used bungees with no screen excess. His second screen he ordered oversized and wrapped around his emt with clamps. When he went to forward his screen, it had a crease where it had hugged the emt for a prolong period that he could not steam out. Maybe it was the screen mfg. or maybe the fabric had too much memory to steam out. I following BBJR's screen forwarding method in my build as my buddy thought this was enough "bend and not fold" where it would not show. https://golfsimulatorforum.com/forum...ld-version-3-0
He said the screen wear was about the same from what he remembered.
On cons forwarding screen is it does bunch in corners. If you need a perfect flat screen then only way around it would be to have a curtain at least 6" on the top and bottom of the screen. I am just thankful to have a place to go as the ladies of the house have taken over my man cave and booted me to the garage.

Godfather if you find a better way please post as I can still alter my build.

Also, if you do use pvc, use 4". I used 3" as I had some excess pipe laying around the house but had to put a section at the top to stabilize as the 3" had too much give with just vertical pcs.
