I have just completed construction of a stand-alone building for my golf simulator. The structure’s internal dimensions are 23’ 6” long, 15’ 6” wide and 11’ 6” high. I will be utilizing a Foresight GC Quad to drive the simulator using FSX2018 software. Several issues remain to be fleshed out and I am looking for assistance about the screen. Should there be a single screen or one with a backer? What manufacturer would you recommended? What size screen to utilize in the space available?

I have had the skytrak for the last couple years. I recently purchased the GC Quad. When I purchased the skytrak I bought the package which came with the HomeCourse retractable screen. My ceiling height is about the same as yours. I bought some brackets at home depot to drop the screen down to the recommended height. The brackets were under 10$. You can also mount this screen to the wall like a friend of mine did. It is an electric unit that raises and lowers and has nets that extend out to each side to catch the occasional shank. Works great for me because I share my simulator room with my kids game room. Google Home Course retractable screen and check it out.

Since I don't share the room I intend for my screen to be permanently mounted about 12" off the rear wall. I plan on mounting steel angle to the walls and ceiling, connecting the screen(s) with bungie cords on the side and bottom and stretched with a guy wire and turnbuckles on the top.Comment

If you are planning on using steel angle on the ceiling, skip the guy wire at the top. Try instead to have a "stay" in a pocket to which you can hook bungees. A guy wire will always have some sag whereas a "stay" (can be a fiberglass tent pole or metal rod) will resist sagging if supported by bungees.
I put pockets on all four sides along with stays and bungees on my set-up and it has worked well.
Full Swing simulators mount their screens this way.
As for what to back your screen with, many use a golf net to help absorb the impact. It is lighter than a blanket and can be tensioned with bungees as well.Last edited by aja; 11-26-2018, 08:02 PM.
