    Best screen...

What’s the consensus of the best screen? Seems like people like the Par2pro hq. Anyone using Carl’s screens? If so how is the picture and sound on the premium vs standard etc.

    thanks in advance!

I have the Carl's Premium. I think the picture is very good. There is also minimal bounce back with nothing behind my screen. An occasional high loft shot that will come back to the hitting area. As for the sound, it's hard to say. Mine is in a garage with no drywall and exposed insulation so it is very quiet. I am not sure how it would sound in a home/room environment. I have nothing to compare the picture with but some screenshots are in my other posts.

I have the standard screen. I don't have an HD projector so the extra clarity is not needed. The image is slightly worse with the standard screen due to the texture of the screen but I am very happy with it. If I had an HD projector, I would definitely consider an upgrade to the Premium. It has been very durable with no obvious signs of wear over the past 6 months. Happy to answer any questions about the standard. Check out the Remnant and Clearance section, very good way to get a screen cheaper.

I will say this, I have the Carl’s Preferred and a Supertex that I put a hole in (because I had the screen too tight). I replaced the Supertex with the Carl’s, and I much prefer the Supertex. As a matter of fact, I flipped the Supertex upside down and folded it over and have it hanging in front of my Carl’s Preferred and have been hitting on it that way for a year. I will buy that same screen when it’s time to replace it. The picture on the Preferred sucks in my opinion and I should have either sprung for the premium or immediately returned it...but I didn’t. Makes for a nice “net” behind my “good” screen. The Carl’s is quiet, but when I tried to use it, beyond the crappy picture, it also left ball marks that would stay for quite a while before dissipating.

Since nobody else mentioned it I have the par2pro sq raw material. It definitely is super quiet, takes a beating, excellent picture quality, and unmatched for the price.

dbgolf72 screens are great and better and cheaper than Carl's imo. Never tried Par2Pro so can't compare.

I have tested a lot of screens. Par2Pro’s SQ Raw is the best I’ve used.

mthunt have you try dbgolfs newest screens? I've had both versions of his screens the early and the new and the new one is awesome imo. Just curious how it compares to par2pros

I haven’t had that one. The SQ is really thick and hits like a fluffy pillow.

Couldn't agree more with mthunt It's beyond quiet and doesn't need any backing imo.

If you dont use any backing how far off the wall do you all have the par2pro screen?

My screen is 10" from the wall. I do have a net and a memory foam mattress behind it, however I don't believe they do much. Most people recommend 12" but probably a best question for par2pro.

My screen is about 8" to 10" from the wall. I back my screen up with archery netting. It may be overkill, but I really like how the ball does not bounce back too much and also that I have the added protection for when my screen fails.

If I recall correctly there was a big long thread that Par2Pro took the same mill from the "Direct from" thread, and just charged more for it. So they should be exactly the same, with the convenience of buying from a reliable business instead of a random forum guy who goes MIA. Apologies if I got the details wrong, feel free to search for the thread to verify in case I am talking out my butt.

I personally have a Carl's preferred, but I don't agree with the comment above regarding its image quality. I think it looks fine, but I've never compared it to anything else so I'm not the best barometer.
