  • Buy Impact Screen Fabric Directly from Mill 2

This is a continuation of the Original post that you can see by searching the forum for the same title.

Im going to order a couple rolls of the premium impact screen directly from the mill and ship it out to whoever is interested. It comes in 10 foot long rolls, so it will be 10' tall by however wide you want.
This is the thick, 3 layer premium impact screen that you can buy at carls place for over $600 for a 10x10 raw screen. If you want it hemmed or velco around the edges i can do that in house before i ship it.

I should be getting the rolls in April 2019 sometime, I will be taking pre-orders here as soon as i figure out a price that works for me so it is worth my time. You do not have to pre-order, you can wait till i have the material in stock but based on the response from the previous post you might miss out if you wait. I will be posting prices here soon. Will try my best to keep it at about half the price... stay tuned!

    PS:
I will not be adding grommets.. they are no good anyway. they just stretch the fabric.. tarp clips are better.. the best ones ive found for the price are these: HORUSDY 8-Piece Tarp Clips, Camping Awning Tent Clamps. Hem the edges and attach these anywhere you need them.. works great.

    I'm in. Hoping for 12' x 10'.
You said you would hem the edges, right? Would it be possible to hem the edges with a pocket, wide enough for EMT conduit to slide in? Would the screen even work right that way?
I can't picture how clamps are better than the grommets. I imagine a really hard drive could pull the material right out of the clamp.

Nope. Tarp cllips are the best. I use easy klips from home depot and they have never broke or come undone.

I would also be in for 16 feet raw material. I would not discount the grommet system if done properly. I can see if you simply grommet through a single layer of fabric and don't get proper tension you could stretch and tear the fabric eventually.

I posted in the original from the mill thread that I had a sailmaker finish my raw material locally and the screen turned out really well. it was hemmed and grommeted with industrial grommets on all 4 sides and velcro stitched in before the grommeting was done . That results in a very robust edge that is never going to stretch or tear at the edges. I used ball bungees on all 4 sides and the resulting tension is perfect . The addition of the velcro allows you to trim the screen for a very clean look. I used auto carpet to trim and cover the ball bungees , gluing velcro to the the auto carpet and then velcroing to the screen on all 4 sides.

The sail maker that I used was a perfectionist , I posted in the original thread that he used test piece offcuts to see how the fabric would react to stitching , and the fabric was unusual in that dependant on which direction it was cut and stitched resulted in different stretch characteristics.
This was important to me because my existing enclosure had 2 x archery weave screens attached that I wanted to remain as support for the direct from mill screen, so the grommet holes had to perfectly match to enable me to use it in the way that I had planned.
The sailmaker pulled it off perfectly and the screen fits like a dream, I posted images in the last thread, I like the grommet system because you can get a perfect tension across the whole screen in every dimension which results in a perfectly flat screen with no ripples . Here in the UK every screen that you can buy is grommeted but also re-inforced whichis critical in order to avoid stretch/tear scenarios. We watch TV and movies on ours , it is a great screen and am happy that there may be an option to get another . Thanks for your efforts.

Guys, I'm afraid we got sniffed out. They canceled my order due to..."conflict of interests". If anything changes I will let you know but it seems like for now the USA Monopoly and price setting is alive and well.

"Conflict of interests" probably is a description of a complaint from a retailer that enjoys a position where they are able to re-sell a raw or finished product from a mill directly to a consumer group that would like to be able to order online and have the ability to discuss with the suppliers the fine detail of their order and probably do not have the knowledge or the desire to go it alone.

However , this forum is populated by enthusiasts who share their knowledge and experience openly and have experience in subjects and are happy helping others in the process. and capable of selecting and buying products without an unnecessary middle man......."Conflict of interests" is not something that you expect to encounter in enthusiasts arenas....

Personally I would boycott any retailer that is not happy to survive on their own merits, and allow the grass roots people to do their own thing.

I know that the retailers monitor these forums , you know who you are ...shame on you......

That’s unfortunate. I’m in for two 12.5’ x 9 screens if it gets up and running again. I can wait till April May.

So after the mill canceled my order due to "conflicting interests" I finally got around to reading the entire thread and came to the following conclusion... dbgolf72 either died or got bought out by par2pro? which one is it dbgolf72? something weird is going on here! Show your face and let everyone know why you went silent all of a sudden?

Here is the comment made by Par2pro earlier in the thread:
                              """"Par2Pro commented
                              10-05-2018, 06:26 AM
Hey dbgolf72 - we would be happy to take over while you take a break... if you are interested, just pm me or email me at cory@par2pro.comand we can work out the details and I can continue this post for you, or even put it on our website to make it easier for clients. Would offer the same or similar pricing depending on the costs."""""""

Go look at their SQ screen on their website.. it is the exact same screen for 2.4x as much as what it was being sold on here... Big business now eh! Promising the same price but look what happens! We were sticking it to the big dogs when this thread started but now we are the big dogs.

So your order got canceled. That sucks. Do you think it was Carl's that made them cancel your order or par2pro?
