  • Carl’s screen

I have the 5 ft enclosure. I have rebounds from the bars like crazy. I am waiting to be hit with a golf ball every time I swing a wedge. How far away from the screen should I be hitting from. I did put pool noodles on the top of the screen but my rebound still happen. Any suggestions

I have the exact same issue, hitting from 9 or 10 feet, will be looking at possibly putting some padding between the Velcro and the pipe on the top.

I'm hitting about 8 ft away (8' tall screen) and have yet to hit the top bar.

I almost killed myself a couple times as well. You can try hanging some sort of baffle in front of it to knock the ball down before it hits the pipe. Or, you can move the hitting area closer to the screen so it takes a higher launch angle to reach the top of the screen.

Yeah. I moved my hitting area to 10 ft away. It’s better. I may go 9 feet but will let it go for now.

Tried different padding, blankets behind the Velcro, nothing worked well, maybe packing material next. Unfortunately I can’t move the mat I have an overhead launch monitor that can’t easily be moved.

Ok, finally found something that works to guard against bounceback from the top rear bar on a Carl’s enclosure with 5 foot sidewalls. Bought a 30 dollar 2 inch memory foam topper from amazon. Cut 3 pieces, 4” by 36”. Opened up the Velcro pocket along the top rear enclosure bar and just put the pieces in along the 13 foot length of the bar. Didn’t wrap them around the bar, didn’t tape them to the bar, just left them free floating between the velcro seam and the bar. Then I had my sharpshooter 22 year old son take full wedge swing. He’s finally comfortable not worrying about bounceback. It now happens very occasionally, but never with any scary velocity.

A few few things I had tried: blankets around the bar (too soft, not enough padding), two kinds of pool noodles, the solid styrofoam with small hole through middle (too firm), the fatter one with half inch foam around the outside and stuffed in the inside, cut the ends off, took out the stuffing so it was hollow like a giant penne pasta, this almost worked stuffed between the Velcro seam and the bar but the diameter was so big that it stressed the Velcro such that when the pitched ball hit, the Velcro would open up and allow the ball through. The memory foam strip fits nicely, doesn’t stress the Velcro, and for those with just a bar, no enclosure or Velcro, think about hanging a memory foam strip right in front of, not attaching it to, the bar. That small air gap between the bar and the barrier material seems to make all the difference in the world, like a baffle, but without the need to hang a full baffle.

Good luck. One other thing I noticed, I had the bolts for the top back bar connector facing toward the tee area, so I rotated them away from the ball path.
