  • SportScreen garage build

Here is my build using a 16' SportScreen and a 16'x10' impact screen from dbgolf72. It is a little bit different than some others I have seen on here and has been a work in progress since September. I finally have the top netting pulled tight above the screen using angle iron / zipties. A high spinning wedge shot will no longer go over the net to come flying back at me and the electronics. There were a few near misses.

I have an area roughly 24' wide x 20' deep in front of the stairs and a 14' ceiling. The garage continues to be used for cars so I had to be able to move everything completely out of the way every time I was done golfing. It takes 5-10 minutes to set up and about 5 minutes to put it all away. I left 20" between the stairs and screen. 4" would have been too close and I wanted to make sure the 2x4s holding it all up were screwed directly into a stud. The side netting has not been hit but it makes me less concerned about breaking a window when I shank one.

Projector is 4500 lumen InFocus IN2138HD and my garage door faces west. The screen gets a little washed out in the afternoon on sunny days but still visible. Eventually I plan to put something up to cover garage door windows. Most of the time I either play in the morning or late at night so it has not been a priority.

For the garage windows, i use white blackout material that is held in place with magnets. Do you have anything to protect shots from hitting the rollerbar and come flying back? I had a sportscreen for a short time and never got to a point to fully address it.

Interesting solution. I have a similar issue with light coming through my garage door windows and washing things out a bit. Is your garage door metal? Mine is wood, so magnets may not work for me, but I could fasten another way. What did you use for blackout material?

I am still not comfortable hitting full shots with my 60* wedge and everything else hits well below the rollerbar. It would take around a 45* launch angle to hit it (I hit from roughly the same distance away as the height of the rollerbar) and I usually max out around 39* when chipping with the 60* wedge.

hillzz22 I just got it from like JoAnn fabrics, it's called blackout lining fabric, white in color so you can't even really see it on the inside of the garage door.

Great setup! That is exactly how I need to make mine but I’m stuck on how to make the custom screen roller. How did you make yours?

Thats great. Better setup than mine in my 1 bay of the 2 car garage. My stairs get in the way unfortunately, which pushes me out around 3 feet from the garage, limiting my total hitting area to 17feet.

The white blackout fabric works great. Thanks for the suggestion
