  • Forget your side netting use a "shank-board"

A lot of time was put into my side net. At the same time I built a "shank" board to protect my sliding glass doors. Then I realized recently that if I moved it forward enough, there is zero chance for a ball to hit the frame to come ricocheting straight back to take out a tooth or worse.

Thanks Jamie PROTEE UK for coining the shank board and wbond for noticing it too.

DejaVu - Did you build this yourself? This is awesome. I need this. Can you share the dimensions and materials you used?

Of the shank board? Get a 1/2"+ thick x 12" tall x 18" long piece of plywood and fasten it to an
18" long 2x4 at the base. Cover it with the carpeting of your choosing and shank on. :-)

Will it ricochet to the other side? How well does it play with the launch monitors

Yes it will ricochet, but not too hard and they usually just hit the screen. It doesn't effect the Protee at all because I spray painted it black. However you may not be able to use one if you are using a Skytrak or Gc2 etc

I would imagine you could put foam or padding to cover it if you are worried about a ricochet.
