Enclosure depth question

I am building a 10W x 8T enclosure with EMT.

Trying to figure out the depth of enclosure...was thinking 2' but is that not deep enough? It's getting built into a garage, so trying not to have more wide enclosure than needed...if at all. I do have netting to catch any shanks (from friends, not mine of course)

Other option is to go 3' enclosure depth, but is there a reason to have deeper?

I plan on not using any enclosure. Just a square frame for the screen, and then some curtains on each side I can pull out when needed.

I started with just a 10x8 screen (hitting 8' from screen) and kept hitting the ceiling with wedge shots. I built a 1" EMT conduit frame and added 4' sides/top and LOVE it. No more flop shots hitting the ceiling, and no risk of shanks bouncing around in the garage.

Do you think you could do 3’ and get same result? Trying to have minimal obstruction in garage as possible....

bbasse yes, if your hitting area is 8' or closer to the screen you should be good. 4' is more than enough for my setup, but I love how it frames the screen and makes the image pop (brighter).

So bbasse you had something like this previously? I am looking at this 10 x 8 right now for purchase. The company (Allsportssystems) is right down the street from me here in NC. But you found you were flying the wedges over it? Flop shots, or just full wedge shots? Why didn't you just move your mat a bit closer?
