  • Bounce Back

I have a Carl's Premium Screen and am hitting from about 6 feet from the screen (small space so only option) and I am struggling with limiting the bounce back. I have a memory foam topper behind. The bottom is hanging free and the sides and top are attached using ball bungees. When I loosen the screen, then the picture looks bad. When I tighten it the ball hits and rolls to the back wall. Looking to get the ball to hit and stop within 3-4 feet.

Should I put sand bags or heavy moving blankets in the bottom? Any ideas would be appreciated.

    Thanks for your advice.

Is bounce back worse from high wedge shots, or driver shots, or mid irons?

Does your screen have a sleeve at the bottom?

It’s gonna be trial and error and a trade off of screen tightnes at only 6ft. From my experience you can loosen the bottom sides near your impact height. You don’t want additional tightness in the bottom but you can try adding one bungee to see if it hurts or helps.

At 6ft I’d consider adding a net for the lower half of your screen to absorb the velocity, and next step would be the memory foam topper behind that.,

If you go netting, don’t get black or use anything that could get your screen dirty., moving blankets etc. are bad..

I'm hitting from approx 8 ft and getting very little bounce back. Driver and long irons bounce straight down. Been using P2P SQ Raw screen. Behind impact screen I have a white king size sheet hanging attached only at top bar. Behind bed sheet I have a Harbor Freight mesh tarp hanging hanging from top bar and not too taught at side bars. The impact Screen is attached at top and with tarp clips and wraps around sides of EMT (which have foam insulation) and attached with tarp clips to rear part of EMT frame. Bottom hangs loose but haven't really experienced a loss if quality of image as the screen's elasticity has maintened integrity of picture plane. That beings said my projected image doesn't extend to the very bottom of screen and I only have a 10 ft wide screen. This is probably because I project in 16:9. rather than 4:3...personal preference.

Have you had any issues with the Mesh Tarp? I am looking at this material as a background housing area and will have something in front of it taking all the impact, but hoping shanks or mis-hits would hold up against it.

I find it perfect for shanks and mishits. It has worked out real well as ceiling protection. I have it attached on my shank side to hospital curtain track. Highly recommend.

steve51523 How did you fix it? I just tightened my screen for better picture and I'm dealing with this issue. Thanks!

sherpa blanket seemed to help. moving blankets got destroyed so dont use those.

I'm having some of these same issues - I have 10ft high ceilings but my screen is only 7'-7" high so have a gap at the top. I have an archery net behind the screen that covers the entire 10ft height and width.

1st problem was bounce back because i had the bottom pretty tight, so i let the bottom of screen hanging - which lead to worm burners getting behind the screen and netting that i had to retrieve, so fixed that by running the floor carpet under the screen and curving it up to act as a guard - works well, no more lost balls that are hit to low.

2nd problem - wedge shots hit high would hit the archery netting at the top and sometimes get behind the screen, which wasn't to bad as they would come out the bottom, but now sometimes they get behind the carpet that i put behind it which makes it almost impossible to retrieve. So ok i'll fix that by buying a carpet runner and hang that at the top and velcro that to screen so the balls can't get behind it.

That all looks pretty good and works well for intended purpose with one big problem - now my wedge shots that hit that carpet spin and bounce back to where im hitting from 10 feet away. I have my skytrak in its FMJ case but the other day a golf ball almost landed right on top of it, so now what put a shield on top of the skytrak.
